Excellent. Hopefully that means the final season will be released in time for the holidays.

Yeah, I don't get why they stopped doing the giftsets with two of the volumes.

They should release the final two seasons together just like the initial release of the first two seasons. Regardless, I will buy it June 5th.

If they had continued with the same release pattern we'd all have season 9 right now. I read somewhere else that for some reason the May release of Season 4 didn't sell as well so they delayed season 7 till X-mas. I guess now they just want to release the rest of them.
I have to give a shout out to Sony thought, I never thought in a million years I'd see Seinfeld on DVD with amazing picture quality and hours and hours of extras. But then again it doesn't surprise me becuase it's such a good show.

Give a shout out to Jerry Seinfeld. He took a personal interest in putting together the best possible archive of the show.

I'm kind of glad that they're not releasing another gift set as the two I have now are perfect for holding all 9 seasons. But if they did a Soup Nazi soup bowl and spoon set would be cool or a set of 5 Pez dispensers; Jerry, Elaine, George, Kramer and Newman.

How do you figure?

There was a 1-year gap between the simultaneous 5&6 releases and season 7 but that's the one exception, every other gap between releases has been approximately 6 months and on two occasions we've been lucky enough to get two releases at the same time.

I wanted 7&8 to come out at the same time so it's somewhat disappointing that they're coming separately but at the same time I thought the lack of a Spring release last year indicated no Spring release this year and I figured a 8&9 giftset during the Holidays was a given.

So yeah, I expected the series to be finished in November, we just won't get everything at once. Getting season 8 a few months early will be a nice bonus.

They haven't taken nearly as long as Frasier's last few seasons.

So, what are the chances of a "The Complete Series" set in time for Christmas?

That's exactly what I expected. I figured late November we'd get the season 8 and 9 gift set.

Maybe. If they do that I'm going to be very angry if it includes exclusives in it after I've been buying the sets along the way. If they want to do a complete series set just put in the exact same sets in a big box.

a lil birdy has told me, season 9 in november ... and in 2008 will be 2 complete series sets released ........

each will have more audio commentaries, episode looks at, the return of sponsored by vanderlay industries, a booklet, with all eps and etc......

the 2nd series set will include all previous gift set stuff, and a new one

then in 2009 ... an hd or blu-ray (depending on winner) will be began released in season sets, and then 2 complete series sets as well eventually

And in 2010 they are releasing a super Special Edition HD-DVD/ BluRay combo that comes with a free DVD player and life sized replica of Monk's Diner.

Well, if true, guess I won't buy seasons 8 and 9. I already own 1-7 but if the price is right for the complete series, I might go for it (and sell off my other sets).

I think you may have taken my poor attempt at humor the wrong way.

Not poor at all. It was a rather amusing jab and one that joegrjoe should have understood.

I can't wait to see what they choose for the cover art.

And here it is. (Courtesy of TV Shows on DVD)

Looks pretty much the same as the past seasons, which isn't a bad thing.

Yup, not a bad thing at all. I have seasons 1-6, I will probably pick up 7 & 9 when the price drops a bit. IF there is going to be a season set then I'll probably try to offload these and pick up the full series set.

If they do a "complete series" set, I just hope there will be some way for those of us that bought the individual seasons to get the box it'll come in (a la Friends).

Season 8 contains one of my favorite episodes. The one where Jerry buys a new racquet from the guy at the tennis shop, who happens to be terrible at tennis. Then near the end Kramer gets pummeled with the tennis balls in slow motion.
