Well, technically it doesn't say anamorphic anywhere and I guess it is in the 16:9 shape with the 1.85:1 ratio. But still it's pretty crappy as nowadays I automatically assume all widescreen discs are anamorphic.

According to DVDcompare this is the version to get.
Does anyone know of a site with a better price for this version?

Well, with no special features (i.e. - deleted scenes), I won't be upgrading. Same with Bound - only for deleted scenes will I do it.

I recieved the new "Freeway" disc yesterday, and it is the EXACT same disc as the first release. EXACT SAME. The only difference is the artwork on the disc and case. What was the point of this re-release? It certainly wasn't to upgrade the video for 16x9 TV's - I was shocked to see it was still 4x3. I just do not understand releasing a widescreen DVD at 1.85:1 in the year 2007 and it NOT be processed for anamorphic - or ANY widescreen / letterboxed DVD for that matter. In my opinion, at this stage of the game, no studio should even entertain the idea. Why would they? You would think they would want to please the consumer and make some money. When the word gets out that this is the exact same 4x3 disc, I hope the sales are low to nothing, and the message gets through to these morons. I knew something was fishy when not one website could confirm the transfer at 16x9 or 4x3. Thankfully this was a rental, not a purchase.

I bet now that she has kids she wouldn't take on a role like this anymore. Having kids has ruined some good actors. They really lose their edge and daring (Bette Midler, Eddie Murphy, etc.) as if their kids will never see their older films!

Well, from Lion's Gate's point of view they must have bought the rights to the film from Republic and wanted to get their name on it and put big heads on the cover to capitalize on the huge boom Reese and Kiefer have had in the past ten years since the original release. Guess they wanted to go on the cheap and slap the same disc in the package and just change the packaging instead of doing a remaster. Sucks for us though.

You know what - I see your point, and you are probably right. If they really wanted to make an impression, they should have thought of the technical aspect of the disc along with it's two major stars. It really is a good movie, and it deserves better.

Which is fine, but don't put "16X9" in big print on the back.

Maybe the guys who sued MGM Home Entertainment over their "widescreen shows more of the picture" DVD back cover descriptions will pick up one of these Lions Gate release and get their attorneys to file another class action lawsuit.

what a crock of shit. How do I get my money back from these LIARS and THEIFS. YOu cannt advertise something and then not provide it. Bait and switch anyone? I'd like an address to send this coaster to them as my appreciation of the MORONS who made this possible. The DVD caost me $1.95 so I am not too concerned but that didnt change the fact that I had to watch a stretched pciture that did not looke normal.
