HOSTEL: Special Edition

No date, but Eli Roth has stated that Sony wants one so he is working on it. :

Eli Roth: "I was putting together a lot elements today for the 'Hostel' special edition DVD. Sony wants to do one and my feeling is I'm all for it, but it has to be great and have so many extras people really feel they got their money's worth and that Sony didn't double dip," Eli tells his fans via his blog. "It's gonna be awesome. But watching all those deleted scenes made me sad. I missed them. I missed filming with them. With Jay and Derek and Eythor and Barbara. There's a lot of great shit that got cut for time that I still love. I wish I could soot that film again. It was one of those magical experiences where everything came together. Seems so far from me now. And yet I'm still in it in a weird way. Crazy."

If has more of Barbara, I'm in for sure. Really need an unrated release of CABIN FEVER to be announced now.

that's strangely sentimental for a horror movie. "Remember that scene where you ran over that girl's head? I really felt like, for the first time, here is an actor who gets movies. Good times, good times."

With four (count 'em - four) commentary tracks already on the current release, the SE would probably resort to getting craft services staff to discuss what kind of sandwiches people ate on the set, or some accountants explaining creative studio accounting.

Yeah. I'm definitely in -- Guiseppe Andrews and Rider Strong are back -- but I would have loved to have seen Roth's version of the sequel (he's not involved). His idea for a sequel was an animated musical starring Deputy Winston in which he...um...has his way with the corpses of the victims from the original. Obviously Lionsgate turned him down.

It'll have the alternate ending. When the first DVD came out, I remember Roth saying that they told him to hold off on including it on the DVD because they wanted to wait for the eventual "Special Edition".

Feel good movie of the year. I loved it.

I wonder if it will be an "extended" edition and if so, have more than 5 minutes of extra footage.

Odd....If this were going to be released to coincide with the theatrical release, i'd think it would have been announced by now...

Maybe it'll coincide with the DVD release of Hostel II?

Considering Hostel II will be out on DVD in time for halloween, I'm assuming that's when it'll probably be released.

Does this have the original ending, too? I was planning to get this SE, but I've never seen the movie before.

So is the alternate ending the only thing different about the movie?

Watched it and the ending is all that seems different. You can pick which version you want, unrated or unrated w/ alternate ending. I like the ending that was in theatres. Its nice to have both now but still prefer the kill ending.
