Casino Royale DVD Glitch?
I noticed on my copy of Casino Royale that in Ch 10 0:48:49 - 0:48:51 there seems to be a glitch. The numbers don't jump but run smoothly during the "glitch" though so it makes me think it is a problem with the source material or just badly edited for the movie.
It happens during the airport chase sequence when Bond is hanging off the truck the bomber is driving and he makes a sharp left turn. As the truck turns, the frame jumps and it turns again but in a different position. It just looks weird and not smooth at all as if the frames didn't match in transition.
Anybody else notice this on their copy or should I exchange mine?
Thanks.

I didn't notice anything... And I just watched it now on my DVD-ROM. It's fine (unless you have a defective disc).
Always test it on other players.

Yes I did. Same thing happens at that point even though the rest of the movie plays fine. So it made me think all discs are the same but I'm making sure in case it's just mine.
Similar thing occured in The Matrix from The Matrix UE Collection. A glitch occured in one scene that was absent from the original release and after exchanging my disc a few times I realized they all were like that. The curious thing was that nobody ever mentioned it on any reviews or forums. Same with the audio popping in Return of the King Extended.

It sounds like a layer change. I'd check specifically but my player doesn't display them. Basically the disc has two layers of information. When it gets to the end the laser refocuses to the second layer and will often show a slight pause. Some are more hidden than others. Nothing is wrong with your movie or your player if this is the case.

I just watched the movie, and mine was full of trouble. Throughout the movie the image would darken, then lighten. Lines went across the screen that reminded me of a VHS tape having difficulty playing. My player is a Panasonic with a Faroudja chip. At first I panicked thinking my TV was dying. I'm glad I'm not the only one with the problem. Thanks for the post.

Anyway, it looks like the editor had two takes of the truck turning or something and just tried a jump cut between the two and hoped people didn't notice.

OK, I guess I was on the wrong scene. I saw it too. Never noticed it in the theater or while watching it again on DVD. So thanks alot, now everytime I watch the movie I'm going to notice it...

He's right about the copy protection thing though. What you described is something I have seen once when I took my DVD player to a friends house and we hooked it up to the tv that had a VCR in it (which my tv at home does as well, but this tv reacted differently for some reason), and the picture kept fading in and out and had lines on the screen, making it impossible to enjoy a movie.

I just posted this on the DVD & Home Theater Gear section, but I think this might be an issue, copy protection, trying to play Sony discs. I had to press the menu button to get it to play Casino Royale because it wouldn't start right away and now it won't even play The Holiday at all...
