According to someone who's actually seen the packaging
(see post 22 of this thread: http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread.php?t=494210 )
looks like this just comes with a book, no bonus DVD.

Has anyone else seen the packaging yet?

It's possible that it's both a book AND a bonus DVD, just like the Target DEVIL WEARS PRADA exclusive.

bgmat58 03-12-07 11:18 AM

yeah. why not just pick the one you like most? i have heard of double dipping but this is just crazy.

TheJoker 03-12-07 02:14 PM

I saw the DVD released early at my local Sears store on Saturday!

It was 4 days early....wanted to buy it but the $22.99 price tag held me off.....i think im gonna price match at BestBuy with the CC ad and get me the Free car....or just buy at CC.....the free coin looks decent.

GuruTwo 03-12-07 02:40 PM

I think the way Target words their ads in this respect can be sorta misleading.

You could look at their "Departed" ad and interpret it as saying it had "exclusive content" that was only available in their store whereas in reality the "exclusive content" they talked about was in relation to the cheaper 1-disc set.

Based on the fact that people in that other thread have claimed to have seen the packaging I'm gonna have to assume that what the Target ad meant to say is "this edition with the book also comes with the 2-disc version".

Rizor 03-12-07 09:43 PM

but the regular, cheaper edition is a 2-disc version, so bonus discs doesn't really apply

It sure does apply if it's got some good extra content that's not on the regular 2-disc version.

it doesn't if it's the same exact 2-disc set. The exclusive's only extra is a book. Same exact content discwise.

Target set has no bonus disc - book only. It is very nice (smaller version of the full book) but no disc

Wildo1966 03-13-07 08:17 AM

Target can keep their crappy exclusive this time...

The Valeyard 03-13-07 09:40 AM

Gah!

Off to Circuit City.

Is there an exclusive cover of any sort?

No there is not...That really was the deciding factor for me...Target got no money from me this week!
Of course Target has an exclusive edition for Sublime but not Casino Royale...UGH!

ReduxGuy 03-13-07 10:27 AM

DAMN!!! Goodbye, Target, Hello, Circuit City.

slop101 03-13-07 12:57 PM

The people on this board are weird.

Everyone bitches and moans about the lack of a simple chapter-listing instert, and with the Target set we get one of the best "inserts" ever (and still below msrp of just the dvd alone and only $5 more than CC), and people are still pissed - there's no pleasing some of you.

LorenzoL 03-13-07 01:04 PM

I bought the Best Buy exclusive for $19.99 Canadian.

For the most part, the Best Buy exclusives are the same for US and Canada. There are some exceptions for example, Canada never got the Tin Case for the boxset of the King Kong Collection.

OldBoy 03-13-07 01:26 PM

you know i got the CC and thought the coin was in the package ala "Crank" pen, but alas it wasn't and i didn't get it. hope it wasn't too good.

it's actually $9.00 more and the book will not fit in the DVD case and thus not an "insert".

Actually it's 16.99 at CC, so $6 more.
The $13.99 was a mistake.

It might have been a mistake at first but people are starting to report that they are getting the $13.99 price at CC.

dullboy 03-13-07 02:10 PM

They had signs printed at my CC that said $13.99. No mistake. I was given the coin automatically at the counter. Haven't opened it to take a gander yet...don't really care to, either.

rhcp1214 03-13-07 02:11 PM

Does anyone know if the Casino Royale DVD has a slipcover...the ads didn't look like it did, but it would be nice to know
