To those who know, how have Target's extra discs been in the past? I'm not sure whether to get that or the car from Best Buy.

islandclaws 03-08-07 05:01 PM

My only concern is when is someone going to post a custom cover for this so it can match the other 22 Bond films I own. As for where to buy, I'm going with BB. That car is just as useless as Wallyworld's poker set (to me, anyways) and I doubt Target's disc is going to have anything that isn't a fluff promo piece.

I might just do a custom spine like I did for Die Another Day. I still have my template so it shouldn't be hard to do.

If it's not on the official release or Target bonus disc, has anyone seen the trailer as a promo on any other recent Sony release?

The Holiday, released on tuesday, has the full length trailer in 1.85 anamorphic widescreen on the trailer page of the disc.

actually it was 15.95 after a $2 code at cdwow.com. And from what I have read (thanks to dvdbasen) the so called drop out is very brief (about a half a second) and not every disc has the issue.) since i don't have blue ray yet, I'll take this in a heart beat over a $23 2 disc se region 1 disc.

Thanks! That's cool to know and may be a last resort if it's not on anything else worthwhile. Romantic comedies are really not my thing, but I may have to bite the bullet in the end. An earlier poster mentioned that the shorter trailer is on the "Da Vinci Code" disc, but there's no way that will ever enter my home as I despise anything Ron Howard comes in touch with.

If anyone else out there sees the long CASINO ROYALE trailer on any other Sony release, please let us know. Thanks!

I hope that doesn't include The Andy Griffith Show!

Nah, that was OK and I didn't mind Howard in his early acting days and through Happy Days, etc. It's just his directing that irritates me to no end. "Grand Theft Auto" was OK and "Splash" was moderately watchable, but I found everything else he has done to be pompous and overwrought. Sorry, I didn't want to turn this into a Ron Howard bashing, though. Obviously, he is some sort of talent as he continues to work on major projects that are successful, so to each their own, I guess.

"Arrested Development" more than makes up for all of his crimes against cinema.

Im not sure which one I want to get....the coin looks pretty cool from CC but the car looks awesome as well...

I don't see it as a series. Maybe a movie?

case is very tempting.
take out the sd dvd and sell it, put the bluray in its place.

That's exactly what I was coming in to post! I just ordered one. If you don't like the rating classification or can't play PAL discs, use custom cover art or otherwise pick up a copy of the R1 disc itself cheap to replace it.

DeanoBKN 03-09-07 11:58 PM

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but FYE is also giving out a pack of Casino Royale playing cards with purchase. The pack is seperate and not boxed with the DVD, so you will have to ask for it.

Vision of Love 03-10-07 10:33 PM

I haven't bought a DVD from Wal-Mart in ages.

Would you guys know if Canadian Wal-Marts get the US exclusives as well? How about Best Buy? Or are they always different?

Almost 100% certain that the long trailer is on the "Stranger Than Fiction" Blu-Ray. In HD no less!

I can't believe Target is getting 22.99 for their exclusive of only a small making of disk. Not even a exclusive slipcase or anything! Since the Casino Royale release is 2 disk anyway why bother paying almost 10 bucks more for the bonus disk?

Erik68 03-11-07 10:45 AM

Those interested in the Best Buy deal online, here's the direct link...

for those of you considering Target...

i saw the ad today and there is no mention of a bonus dvd. it is only a "Bond on Set" book that is included in their listed "Limited Edition". i think the bonus dvd mentioned was a mistake.

Our ad shows the "Bond on Set" (hard to tell if it is a book or DVD) and below the pictures, next to the price, it says "With bonus making-of DVD".

It could very well be a mistake.

I found the picture of Bond On Set at another website which called it a book.

Needless to say, I'll be stopping there on Tuesday to see exactly what Target's got.

Wildo1966 03-12-07 08:06 AM

I just looked real close at the Target ad, the box that the dvd comes in definitely states BOOK, the ad states bonus dvd, but the packaging is BOOK..
