FYE.com has this on backorder, so they must have sold all their copies out. Since this has not popped up at any other major retailer, and is considered a cancelled release, I believe that may be it for now until a new date is announced by FOX.

Don't worry, Sabrett. It happened the exact same way with me. I only ordered Mrs.Doubtfire, but, the E-mail said "part of your order has shipped". The tracking # provided led to the USPS site, and it always said "no info found", even after the package was delivered to me. If you ordered this, when it was still in stock, and you got that E-mail, then you should be in the clear.

Mine arrived this afternoon. While the slipcover was a little beat up, the rest was fine. Thanks to the OP!

It seems like alot of people here are very happy with this release which begs the real question why this was cancelled/pulled to begin with? I want to go with the incorrect Widescreen error on the back of the DVD cover and slipcover, it should say Widescreen Anamorphic plus aspect ratio. I think it should be a big deal since the 1st release was non-anamorphic, but it could have been cancelled/pulled for plenty of other unknown reasons.

MadonnasManOne 05-26-07 02:16 AM

I believe it could be that the package doesn't indicate the fact that the release is Widescreen Anamorphic. However, the release also doesn't contain a couple of other things that the original announcement said it would. It doesn't contain the commentaries (the Chris Columbus commentary, nor the commentary with Robin Williams and Marsha Garces Williams) and it doesn't contain the Gag Reel.

Perhaps these things are, in fact, supposed to be included, and they intend to re-release it with them included.

I'm having a problem too. I received a confirmation e-mail with a tracking #. However I cannot click on the tracking # in the e-mail or by going into my account at FYE.com. It sounds like some of you are able to do this at one place or the other. I tried using the tracking # at all the major shippers and nothing works. I've sent FYE an e-mail asking them how to track this.

I'm hoping the reason it was pulled is to put the commentraries back. Then I'll pick it up.

advdfreak 05-29-07 02:28 PM

I ordered mine on May 18th and just received it in the mail. Thanks for the heads up on this release!

Why was this canceled? Anyone???

ReduxGuy 06-15-07 09:59 PM

Wasn't there supposed to be a DTS track, too?

Maybe they figured Christmas would be a better time to release it. And also, maybe they decided to re-do the cover cause the art they had was ghastly.

dvd_luver 06-15-07 11:12 PM

I own it, I think if they do decide to rerelease it they need to change the artwork and packaging and add more special features, I don't mind the menus for it but they could probably do a better job as well with the menus, the cut out people was just ok imo. The Anamorphic Widescreen transfer was excellent. I think they could do a better rerelease whenever they decide to rerelease it again.

Bottom line, artwork and packaging has to be changed to seperate the 2 releases since the 5/08/2007 release actually came out in limited fashion. Unless this was pulled to be released at a better time, than maybe they could let it slide if they change nothing in this 2-disc set.

I wish the Tom Hanks flicks from Fox would also be pulled to put the supposed commentaries back on -- big was meant to have a director's commentary and That Thing You Do a cast commentary by Tom Everett Scott, Steve Zahn, Liv Tyler, Jonathon Schaech and Ethan Embry. Also someone pointed out that the new 2-disc of That Thing You Do is missing some features from the single-disc and big is missing the oft-rumored alternate ending.

It's too bad because despite their constant double-dipping and whore-outs, when Fox does a 2-disc set I felt they usually got things done excellently, but the quality seems to be slipping.

^ Still, those two are not bad for $9.99 each this week at Best Buy (plus they give you a $5 GC if you buy two of the qualifying Fox 2-disc SEs).

Given Penny Marshall's previous commentary on A League of Their Own, I'm personally not too broken up about the exclusion of her commentary from the recent Big: SE. And cast commentaries usually end up as big love-fests or people laughing at jokes and/or watching the movies because they haven't seen them since release (if at all), so really, I also don't care about the missing commentary from TTYD.

But for Mrs. Doubtfire, I do admit to being disappointed by the missing Chris Columbus commentary from the previous release and Robin Williams' commentary may have been interesting.

Still, I disagree that the quality has been slipping. Big and TTYD have both versions of the movies, along with some interesting special features. No one ever promised the rumored "alternate ending" for Big, and really, what more do you want to know about the making of these movies? They set up a camera, hired cast and crew, and filmed them. It sounds like all the relevant stories were included (especially with the writer track on Big).

And Mrs. Doubtfire has great special features. Would it have been nice to see some of those R and NC-17 rated versions of lines/scenes that Columbus refers to during the featurette? Sure, but on a "family" movie like Mrs. Doubtfire, one can't blame them for excluding them. I miss the commentary, but otherwise, great release.

Well, according to some websites the 2-disc is not going to be released until next year to coincide with it's 15th Year Anniversary and will market it as such. And that's all I found.

Fortunately I found a copy at FYE.

I had thought of that as a possible reason, that makes sense. Glad I got a copy as well instead of having to wait until next year to buy it.

matome 06-19-07 04:21 PM

Yeah, that sounds plausible. Glad I got mine as well.

Well, unfortunately, I did get a copy of this from FYE.com. When I watched this on my Toshiba HDA2 on a 110" screen through an InFocus IN76 (720p), I almost threw up. I can't remember the last time I've seen that much edge enhancement. Not to mention that the image looks like crap aside from the EE. Sure it's anamorphic, but who cares. It looks like crap. I hope this is why it was pulled.

ericmylad 07-07-07 08:32 AM

For anyone living in the Iowa City, Coralville, or Cedar Rapids, IA area, I saw 2 of these at the Coral Ridge Mall F.Y.E. store on Thursday (7/5). They were 19.99 each.

gosabres1984 07-15-07 03:40 PM

I'm one of the lucky ones too.

Today in Jamestown, NY at the Chattaqua Mall at the FYE store, I found the one and only copy of the behind-the-seams dvd for $19.99. The Slipcover is in perfect condition.

I'm going to keep my copy factory sealed though.

Sabrett 07-16-07 03:38 PM

I got mine from FYE.com, and I've seen them in FYE stores and Coconut stores...
