A dubbed version of this movie would be terrible.

C'mon people, no rubbernecking, gawking, or pointing and laughing. If it's not a joke, it's merely misguided, so let's all just move along, move along....

Some people (like myself) find it very difficult to follow a movie with sub-titles, I myself have trouble keeping up with them when the sub-titles come fast and furious...The only title I had no problem with was Passion Of The Christ, few words to read...

I always worried about that the fast subtitles.. I did not have that problem with pan's labyrinth. it was easy to follow.

the only time I can't stand subtitles are when the subtitling house uses no sort of outline lettering font, white lettering on white backgrounds are eye straining and downright annoying... also I find yellow subtitling also distracting, particularily for 'Das Boot' when the color scheme for the film is mostly blue and black.... yeech!

which is ironic in a way considering the actor of Pan is American and had to learn and speak in Spanish for his character.

I understand. The Infernal Affairs Trilogy was very fast-paced in terms of dialogue, and I frequently found myself going back with my DVD remote to reread subtitles.

that's actually a common problem with quite a few HK discs I own as well.

If they had done a two-pack with the special edition of The Devil's Backbone, I would have picked it up in a heartbeat. But I've never seen the 10th annivesary edition of Cronos on store shelves before. Should I go and pick up the two-pack instead? Is the quality of the disc and the film substantial enough that I should forego exclusive cover art?
I spent almost ten minutes in front of the new releases shelves at Future Shop. Almost looked strange if someone had noticed me.

I ended up not buying the 2-pack. The IMDb rating was only a "modest" 6.7, and if I really wanted Cronos, I could just buy it later, likely for a similarly modest price. If I hadn't gone for the FS exclusive cover I probably would regret it later since it's limited.

Did you also spend another 5 minutes going through all the copies of the exclusive cover to find one in the best condition? I know I did, since most of them had crushed corners ...

I wonder how limited this exclusive cover version will actually be though. Will it be as limited as the Departed steelbook, which was basically gone after a few days, or it will it be as limited as the MI-III steelbook, which I still saw on the shelves months after its original release. Only time will tell I suppose.

But I had a good look at the regular cover for the 2-disc today, and I can say that I'm glad I picked up the Future Shop cover -- the regular one pales in comparison.

I have a feeling I will be doing the same thing this evening - Didn't get a chance to pick it up yesterday. Although I am leaning more towards to two-pack..

It is indeed, but the french lettering is small and unobtrusive on the front. It has equal presence on the spine as the English text. But all this is forgiveable for the better cover design IMO.

I watched Brotherhood of the Wolf with subtitles. It had rave reviews for cinematography. I missed some of the shots while reading. I re-watched it with dubbs, and enjoyed it more.

All of us DVD fools really are alike. I did the same. I checked the general new releases shelves, its own special display section, and even went to the regular shelves just in case.

It was for that reason that I momentarily considered just going for the two-pack as the regular 2-discer's cover was made of a better quality card stock. I doubt we'd have the crushed corner problem if the slips weren't inside the shrinkwrap!

I bought the exclusive cover version from Future Shop and underneath the slipcover was jsut the regular cover, but I don't mind because the slipcover is just so good looking.

What I did find though was that the quality of the cardstock used for the slipcover was not very good and the slipcover was also a bit too big to fit nicely on the dvd. To fix both of these problems I took a slipcover from another dvd that I owned but didnt like. I opened up the glue on the Pan's cover and glued it overtop of the crappy cover. This made the slipcover ticker and more durable while at the same time making it fit tighter on the keepcase.

I still may just end up ordering the beautiful Korean edition of the dvd and replacing the discs in that with R1. But we'll see. I'm just glad I can watch it over and over whenever I want. And the commentary is fantastic by the way.

This is disturbing news. Anyone else have a similar experience? I'd hate to finally get around to opening mine and finding the exact same cover as the regular 2-disc under that classy slipcover...

Oh man, that would be quite the tragedy.

Hey, I may as well pick up the two pack with Cronos (it would be a dollar or so more) if it's just the outer slipcover that's different. But the cover in the dvd case, that's a different story!

I just picked it up (2 disc) at Costco for $20.49. No insert or special additions, but I've never seen it and am looking forward to a viewing.
