Saw III problem

I bought the Target Deluxe version today. Got home, popped it in, and my player couldn't read the disk. I tried it on our other two dvd players, my PS2, and our two computers. Nothing. On closer inspection, it looks like there is nothing encoded onto the bottom (back) of the DVD. The kicker is, I tried out the bonus disk, and the same thing happened.

I can understand 1 disc slipping through like this, but both?

Anyone else have this problem with the deluxe version from Target?

I am going to exchange it tomorrow after my clinical lab, and will post the results.

I hope the whole batch isn't affected. I picked up mine at Target on the way to work this morning so I haven't had a chance to check it yet, but I'll check it tonight and let you know unless there's anyone on the board who has the Target Exclusive and can check real quick because I'm curious myself.

My Target 2-discer works fine. It's defaulting to Spanish Subtitles, but all you have to do is go to the menu and reselect No Subtitles and then return to the movie.

My target disc works fine, just watched it and the commentary. My mom rented one from Blockbuster and she had problems with the player reading the disc. Maybe some batch did get messed up.

I am not sure about your local Target, my the local one in MA here had only 6 copies of the Target exclusive set. You might want to consider returning it today, they may be gone by tomorrow...

I would go today, but it takes an hour for a round trip. They had quite a few copies in two seperate locations. If they are sold out, I will get the regular version and a bit of a refund I guess.

I just find the whole situation strange, in that both disks are like this.

Disc 2 works fine but my disc 1 doesn't load like most discs. The menu doesn't pop up right away. My player will sit there with 00:00:00... like it's stopped. I hit my menu button and the menu pops up. No LG logo or ads. Just the menu. Weird.

Cool menu, though

My disc 1 of the Target exclusive froze on two different players in two different places. One during the Crank trailer and the other during chapter 4 of the movie about 17 mins in. I think I'm going to try to exchange my copy tomorrow too.

I did not experience any problems with disc one or two on my Sony DVP-NS75H.

anyone having trouble with their Saw 3 dvd is due to the new copy protection. It has 99 (most of them "dummy" files) vob files on the disc which will either give some players errors trying to play them or take awhile to load up.

Just got back from exchanging it, and the new discs play just fine. This morning before I left for clinical, I put the first disc in my computer, and under properties it said that it had 0 bytes of used space, and 0 bytes free space. Strange.

I know exactly what the issue is.
Saw III is saddled with a new type of copy protection. I think there are abuot 100 files (normal DVDs have about 20).

I rented it and my players did the same 0:00 blinking thing like they were froze up. Hit stop and then menu, got the menu,or hit play and movie starts. Wouldn't play on the computer. WMP froze and had to use control/alt/delete to close the player. I opened the disc with another program which said two files are defective, both at the very beginning of the disc which is why players are freezing right off the bat. Probably all the promo/logo stuff before the menu is what is defective, the very first thing to appear on screen with an ok disc at least. This disc didn't have all those dummy files, only about 20.

Yep, the new ones played right off the bat in my stand alones, ps2, and computers.

rw2516, the first copy I bought would not even load by pressing the menu key or anything. It was strange.

Same thing happened to me, but with The Invincible Iron Man, also from Lionsgate. I had to eject and then re-insert the disc to get it to work on my dvd player. By the way, the disc contains 77 files.

I was at my local Target today and I saw they still have a few of the 2 disc exclusive sets left. I exchanged my first copy last week too and had no problems with the second one.

Mine worked perfectly. And it's an Insignia DVD/VCR/dts combo.
