Congrats to Geoff and DVDTalk

DVDTalk has been around for 8 years??? Holy crap I can't believe its been that long. I've been coming here for at least 6 of those 8. Lot's of fond memories such as the click for points sites and the days of buy 1 get 3 free dvds to 20 off 20 coupons. One memory that really sticks in my head was Sept 11 2001 when this site(other forum)was the first line of info on the net for those of us who couldn't access CNN and other news sites that day.

I've been able to research loads of DVD's and Home theater items thanks to this site, it's reviewers and other posters. So, another thanks to all of the members of this site for loads of insight and information.

Lst but not least a big THANKS to the reviewers on this site. Without your recommendations I would be a rich man...just kidding. Seriously you have all saved us from poor buying decisions and enlightened us to other items that may have been overlooked.

Geoff, keep up the good work and here's to many more years of DVDTalk.

A forum is only as good as it's members but it must start with a great foundation and the ability to keep the fun in the forum.... i.e. a reason to keep coming back

My one regret is not finding the forum sooner.

Ah yes, the good old days. I've been a member for quite a few years and this is still the best DVD forum out there!

I've been a member since 1999. This is the first site I hit in the morning and the last site I hit before I go to bed. I check the site for updates nearly every half hour. I'm as addicted to this site as I am to DVDs.

Thanks for feeding the addiction.

Has it been 8 years already? I lurked for a while before I finally registered and it's just hard to believe that it has been that long since this site started. Congrats!

I like DVDTalk because it's consistent.

That for me is like a quality newspaper. Very rewarding.

Agreed! there was a time I used to frequent several DVD sites, all of which have either disappeared or became so un-up-to-date (is that a word?) that I dropped them completely, or at least check them only once or twice a week.

DVDTalk has never changed in it's consistancy (if anything, it's few changes have only made it better) and it's become far and away my most visited site. I can end up spending hours a night here...not necessarily a good thing.

Hell, if it wasn't for DVDTalk I'd probably only be online to check my mail and pay my bills

You don't have to become a member to read. Only to post. Many lurk. (he never said he was a member since 2001)

Ditto. If you didn't do this back in 99-00 you would miss out on killer deals.

Yep, this has always been my #1 spot for DVD info. I actually signed up at HTF six months earlier, but my post count here is almost 10 times larger.

I'm not big on internet forums, so I haven't been on a lot of the other ones, but after looking at the usual websites, finding this forum was like finding an oasis in the desert. I had just started my own DVD-related blog due to the lack of any real discussion about DVDs when I found this forum, and it's barely been updated, since I get to talk about DVDs so much here.

I wouldn't say the forum is perfect, because I'd rather not have so many completely unrelated subforums that attract people that inevitably wander in here to shoot their mouths off occasionally, but it's the best option I've seen so far. A forum where people actually talk about collecting DVDs is something I never thought I'd find, so thanks indeed, Geoff, and congrats!!!

Yes, congratulations to all those who operated behind the scenes who are responsible for making DVDtalk what it is.

And to all my fellow DVDtalker members for making it an interesting place to hang around and come back to on a regular basis. Even when we don't agree on some things.

DVD Talk is the only forum I ever visit - just a great website.

I got my first DVD player as a gift at the end of 1998 and a few months later, DVD Talk's Bargains forum helped me begin to build my collection and taught me about anamorphic, etc. I'd honestly have about 600 less DVDs if it weren't for this site, the incredible deals that were posted, and the in depth reviews.

Also, the Movie forum is fantastic. Its amazing how quickly breaking news is posted by members. Much of the time, I find out news here before anywhere else - and I've been working in the industry for the past couple of years.

Anyway, keep up the good work and congratulations.
