CANDY (March 27th)

Part of this year's Berlin Festival...Abbie Cornish (Somersault), Heath Ledger, and Geoffrey Rush in Neil Armfiled's latest Aussie production CANDY. I loved this film and I absolutely adore Abbie...of course the R1 cover is a wreck of paramount proportions (Aussie disc looks better and it is loaded with extras).

I really like Somersault and I like everyone involved with Candy but the film left me flat. I just didn't believe the characters and I don't think Ledger brought any weight to his character which for me was fatal.

That DVD artwork is no classic but it's superior to the terrible US/Oz poster which shows the film for what it really is: drugs addiction lite.

You've perfectly encapsulated my thoughts on this. After loving Cornish's performance in Somersault, I had hope for this considering the talent involved, but by the time it ended, I couldn't have cared less.

I also agree with Reservoir. Completely forgettable film.
