Special Edition Director's Cut of Cast Away?

Apparently there is a director's cut of Cast Away forthcoming:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000LC4ZHG?...SIN=B000LC4ZHG

Anybody know anything about this?

They're showing the same run time for both versions (143 min).

Does Wilson get a love scene in this version?

I really enjoyed this movie but making it longer would run the serious risk making the movie drag.

Wow, not just two hours ago I was thinking about Cast Away and wondering if we'd ever see any deleted scenes. A few hours later I come online and see that there is a special edition up at Amazon. Weird...

I love this movie and would definitely pick up an extended cut. While I thought the pace was great in the theatrical, I'd be interested to see how it would be expanded. Here's hoping it'll be out in Blu Ray!

Me thinks my current 2-disker is just fine.

Absolutely. It's one of my favorite dvds. Gotta love that DTS ES mix as well. This film still features one of the most exciting action scenes with the plane crash.

I'm perfectly happy with the current 2-disc set. It's one of my reference dvd's, and I can't imagine a director's cut improving any further on the movie. I'm also not sure what else you could add into the movie - maybe an extended ending for those who don't like to interpret an open-ended ending.

Just give me the theatrical cut on Blu-Ray and I'll be happy.

but if you pay attention the ending really isn't as open ended as may seem at first.

My 2-discer is just fine. And Wilson does participate in the current commentary...prove me wrong!

I too can't imagine a director's cut improving the current version. Though I'd be curious to see the added differences.

Spoiler:
A waterproof solar powered satellite phone.

This was a joke Zemeckis told when he recorded the commentary track at USC.

I never got to pick up the first 2-discer, so I'll definitely be picking this one up. I'll probably wait for June's DDD sale
