Of course, some Sony DVD's say FS/WS on the package but actually contain only the FS disc. Have you opened this yet?

yes he has, that's how he knows there's a chapter index insert.

FWIW, the 2-disc version does list "Liner Notes" as a special feature on the back (the FS-only version doesn't list liner notes), so it's conceivable that I would've taken that to mean the insert was in there, but yes, I did indeed open it as soon as I possibly could.

I just want to use the opportunity to say "Fuck You" to Sony.

Well said. Let their cost-cutting crap sit on the shelves while we seek out the original versions.

Just a thought..., but any chance of us establishing something like a "help your fellow dvdtalkers find WS versions of OOP Sony discs?" People could list what they are looking for, and other members could keep an eye out for those titles. The parties involved could arrange payment for the purchase price plus shipping.

Man, I'm glad I had the flipper of Jackie Chan's film Who Am I back then. All the stores I have seen now only have the FS.

Yeah, that's a great idea. It'd probably need to be in the DVDExchange section, and it could be either a blanket list for all OOP DVDs, or just a thread where people can post their Sony discs. I'd imagine it'd be something like Trevor's "master thread for exclusives".

I'm keeping my copy of Flatliners (and of course HERO), but once I finally get around to watching Starman, it might be up for grabs.

congratulations on your find. It is indeed a grand feeling to find a sought after DVD. So, now that you found "Hero," what will your next DVD quest be for?

Thanks. The next top priority is "Kevin James: Sweat The Small Stuff", but I'm not optimistic about getting that for anywhere near a reasonable price.
