Whither AZUMI?

Did the R1, 2-disk set of AZUMI actually get released on 11/21? There's a review of it here on DVDTalk, but none of the online retailers seem to have it in stock.

Did it get postponed?

I've seen it at FYE. The security sticker on the top says something like "AZUMI 1," so I guess that means they have plans to release the second one as well.

Unfortunately, this release came three years after the movie was released on DVD in Japan with English subtitles. I think most Asian film fans had already seen it in one form or another.

I bought a copy at Borders several weeks ago, so I assume it came out on time or shortly thereafter.

Yep, there is an advert for the forthcoming sequel release inside the case.

This DVD is nowhere to be found in Canada especially in the B&M places and Amazon.ca has it on the dreaded 4-6 weeks wait for it. I placed an order anyways so hopefully my order goes through.

I saw this at Walmart (2 disc) for $16.99. Is it a shorter version versus the import?...and would it be a good blind buy? The reviews I read were very mixed, but it looked very interesting...and I enjoy Zatoichi for what it's worth.

I bought the DVD from Amazon.ca and I'm happy with it. It's a "fun" movie and it's exactly what I expected.
