get this i live in Australia and our dvd isn't released till this tuesday which i've been really excited about because it's got the two disc edition with the script at a store but now it turns out that none of our 2 disc editions come with the martin scorsese documentary which seems to be the only featurette worth watching

cverneau 03-12-07 05:16 AM

If anyone happens to have an extra or can get their hands on one, I'll Throw in an extra $5 above the cost and shipping.

Does anyone know who does that rock instrumental of "Crazy" during the closing credits? I looked at the soundtrack CD and the score CD and it's not listed on either. I wouldn't mind having that one - it's a great rendition!

I used to think "sez-ee" was the pretentious pronunciation, like "Stanley Cue-brick" (which is wrong), but it's more widespread, so I'm really not sure.

In the beginning of the commentary for "Gangs of New York", he says, "This is Martin Scor-sez-ee". That's the one I go with.

Bingo, he never pronounces it with a "say" in the middle when he says his own name.

On the commentary for the "Making The Shining" documentary, Stanley's daughter Vivian pronounces it as "Cue-brick" but it might just be her accent. :)

Drexl 03-12-07 07:50 PM

Yeah, they say "cue-brick" in Britain.

AND as you pointed out - the 'Scorsese On Scorsese' Doco is ONLY AVAILABLE on the pack with the script - ALBIET AT A MORE EXPENSIVE PRICE !!!.

GEE - THANKS WARNERS AUSTRALIA !!! NOT !!

freshticles 03-14-07 06:59 PM

They should have one day a year when Warner DVD Execs and workers have to run the streets while we chuck beer bottles and rocks at them...

TomOpus 03-17-07 07:16 PM

Sorry for the bump, but I was just at the Best Buy in Santee (east of San Diego) and they still had about 8 or 10 of the steelbooks.

That was an oversight in the production that will be corrected on future runs. Wait for the new versions to arrive in store.

when is this likely to happen ??

You're probably going to need to have an 'eagle eye' out for the 'future runs' - can't see the B&M stores placing any more orders whilst they've got stock to sell.

Buttmunker 03-18-07 09:26 AM

I just wish they'd release a version with the original cover art.

It was corrected after the initial production run so as you say, it will depend on retailers.

Great comparision:

The Departed DVD vs. The Departed HD DVD

-eek-

MasterCXtreme 03-30-07 08:15 AM

Damnit... I really gotta get one of those HD DVD players.

canaryfarmer 03-30-07 08:44 AM

The DVD actually holds up pretty well.

Simpson Purist 03-30-07 12:25 PM

Interesting comparison, I'm curious to see how the Blu-ray version compares to the HD-DVD version.

Randy Miller III 03-30-07 01:09 PM

Why do the HD-DVD's black levels look slightly washed out?

PixyJunket 03-30-07 01:12 PM

Wow, HD screenshots at a resolution of 405 lines. Fantastic.
