Subtitles won't turn off during DaVinci Code

I can turn off the English subtitles, but when the foreign language subtitles pop up appropriately, and then when the film switches to an English speaking actor, the subtitles won't turn off. Anybody else? Anybody have the Columbia 800 number?

Exchange it at Wal-Mart. I had a Sony Dvd (Closer) to this same type of thing, it was just a bad disc.

Same problem here. I was watching the DVD on my JVC player and it drove me crazy. I have to try it on my Xbox tonight to see if I have the same problem there.

You sure you're not just running the wrong subtitle track?

Some discs will have two "English" subtitle tracks - one where just the foreign dialogue shows up as English susbititles and one where all the dialogue shows up.

Just checked it out..I don't mess with the subtitles and the subtitles behave themselves.

I just checked the DVD on my XBox and it works fine there. I think I had the same problem once before with my JVC player.

I have been selecting "No subtitles". I can turn them off again after a French speaker, but as soon as a foreign language is spoken, the english subtitles stay on for the rest of the time. They are annoyingly yellow and distracting.

Did you try just putting the movie in and hit "Play Movie"? This is what I did and it works fine. Something might be getting flagged with you manually selecting "No subtitles".

Same thing on my JVC but not on my XBox. Did you try it on a different DVD player yet?

I both exchanged the dvd and just pressed "play" and all is well until a character says May God forgive me and then the lousy subtitles are continuously on.
