There's some weird circumstances surrounding several of the above, but I've definitely double-dipped a LOT. I could probably have twice as many DVDs now without all the upgrading and re-buying (the latter of which I haven't included here), but I've also avoided a LOT of double-dips because I don't always buy everything when it's first released. Takes me YEARS for some things, which has helped with things like "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" and "Home Alone". 'bout time I bought those now I guess.

Yeah, but I don't think we want to sort through 235 posts in a thread that's been dead since 2004, so sometimes it's not a bad idea to start a new thread. I agree that it's best to search first, although I haven't had much luck with that.

2004? hardly, heres the a double dip thread that was posted in last month http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread....double+dipping

Like I said theres hundreds of these threads on this topic and I could probably find atleast 5 recent ones within the last few months if I really wanted to.

I noticed the OP is a new member and it does not seem like the first time he has made duplicate threads so I referred him to the SEARCH button.

i think i have double dipped on every star wars yet from vhs to dvd & then buying them individually in 2 disc special editions.
-forrest gump (vhs to 2-disc special ed. dvd)
thats about it i hate how studios re-release everything every 2 months, i might buy the special ed. of the green mile through cause the video is much better then the disc they first released that i bought.

If the new disc is a significant upgrade, then I'll get it. I try to avoid double-dips of the most blatant sort -- most of Universal's DVDs to promote sequels are awful. But it otherwise doesn't take much for me to want to upgrade.

Daredevil - That's all.
I never double dip but I made an exception since the director's cut was completely different from the theatrical version and overall, it was a great improvement.

Too many to list, I want to go home from work. I gave up at 80 films, I was only a little over half way through my collection, and I realized that I hadn't counted the 21 films in the "Toxie's Triple Terror" packs that I double dipped on when I bought the Tox Box and the Toxie's Blood Bank cans.

???

What's the logic in this?

Okay you win. Boys and girls, always search before you start a new thread. Of course if you search for "double-dipping" in this forum, good luck sifting through the results.
