Monty Python Holy Grail (1st Release)

Hello Friends,

Not sure if I'm in the right forum. Anyway......I want to purchase MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL on dvd. However, I just want to buy the 2-Disc SE (the 1st release), not the last 2 incarnations which r more expensive.

I remember back when the 2-Disc came out, there were problems with subtitles or something. Has anyone purchased the 2-Disc SE recently? I want to know if recent pressings of this edition done away with that problem.

Thanx folx,
Ken Carlson

The first subtitle was still missing off the fixed version.

The only fully corrected version is in the latest release set.

Actually, that's the 2nd release. The first release was a 1-disk.

Just a hunch here but I'm thinking that the OP is referencing the pop-up subtitle issue from the first pressing, not the missing subtitle at the beginning of the film... At this point in the game I would think that the original faulty release would be off of the shelves, that was an issue back in 2003... Surely it has been corrected by now. Or, one would hope so. That said, I have no proof one way or the other... I exchanged my bad disc way back when.

I think that subtitle issue depended on the player. My original player had problems with the "pop-up" subtitles, but none of my current players do. I thought that Columbia never even acknowledged that there was a problem with the disc. Did they ever even correct the problem?
