Alright,so where are the reviews for this release? And what does everyone think of it? I could care less about the lack of DTS,the movie and if the extras are actually informative and worth while, are the more important thing with this release.

You do have a point there, though.
Still, player-generated subs just annoy me. Like you said though, personal preferences and all that.

I got a chance to listen to about 30 minutes of the theological commentary track last night. Mel doesn't say too much, he instead lets his religious experts dominate the dialogue. What they talk about - the symbolism, the history, etc - is just fascinating, and for my money is worth the purchase alone. I can't wait to finish it up and delve into all the extras on disc 2.

The making-of, while well over an hour, is still kind of just glosses over things for the most part. It's good, but just not as thorough as it could've been (like the one on Kingdom of Heaven, for instance). Overall, a great set. Highly recommended.

Much better film without subtitles. I'm glad we have the DVD(s) so we can watch the film as originally intended. Even though it was the decision of the filmmakers to add them in later. It was shot and edited not to have them. Not having them there makes you focus on what's going on and in a film that's about the suffering of Jesus, written dialogue is not needed.

and that's fine. I just feel that this movie is called The Passion of the Christ. Not The Teachings or The Life of The Christ. Sure there are a couple of scenes where subtitles would be needed. Such as the scene where Pilate is talking to Claudia. But then again in a movie that's about The Passion of Jesus why is the politics of Pilate important?
It's still a good movie with them. But I just feel like they're not needed. You know what's going on just by watching it. From a marketing standpoint it was good to put them in, as the film might not of done as well without them. With subtitles I would give it a 7 and without I would give it a 10.

The Passion of the Christ definitive edition is presented in 1:88:1 aspect ratio, and the sharp transfer captures the nuances of Caleb Deschanel's beautiful cinematography. Its audio formats are English (DTS 5.1), English (Dolby Digital 5.1), (Dolby Digital 5.1), and the languages are Aramaic/Latin/Hebrew with subtitles in both English and Spanish.

Now why in the WORLD would they include a re-cut edited down version of a film on a dvd, and then label it as a special feature? That is absolutely RETARTED. Extended versions of films are ALWAYS better.

Also, the Recut version had a theatrical release as well. I'm glad to have the option. And why does it matter? It's included through seamless branching, not taking up extra space...
