Munich CE dvd.. maybe i got ripped off?

some months ago i bought the OOP Munich Collector's Edition dvd on ebay for like $30. it came sealed, and in amazing condition. however... something i noticed right off the bat was the asian text on the spine just below where it says "Munich" (like three asian characters vertical). it also has this same asian lettering on both discs. so yeah, both discs play well, but weirdly enough they give the option of Indonesian subtitles.

so i go to this used video game store yesterday, and i find the same OOP collector's dvd for only 8 bucks. i snagged it, of course.. because it was obviously my lucky day to find something that cheap that goes for 30 bucks on ebay. i took it home to compare the two, and they're both identical despite a few features. i'm assuming this version is the 100% correct version - the slip cover has openings on top and bottom, while the other one i purchased only has an opening on the side. also, both discs on this version have the barcode thing underneath the disc when the light hits it right - the "indonesian" one did not.

long story, i know.. but i'm basically wondering if anyone else had bought the first mentioned one? with the asian text? i'm assuming this is probably a bootleg? could someone confirm? i've never bought a bootleg dvd before, so i don't really know the aspects too well.

I assure you, you got hosed. I don't know if it's an outright bootleg or a legitimate Asian release, but it is most certainly NOT the official North American release.

Total bootleg, buddy. Sorry.

edit: or at least not an R1 version. I gave up on buying dvds on ebay for this very reason. You never know what you're going to get.

haha, thanks. i needed the confirmation.

honestly though, this asian/bootleg/whatever release has better packaging IMO. i'll post pics maybe if i get my camera back soon. the opening on the side of the slipcover just looks fancier to me.

either way though, i'm bummed i coughed up 27 bones for a bootleg, but i'm thrilled i found the authentic one for 8!! right on!

You should feel great that somebody traded this in for pennies and dimes and you got to replace your unauthentic region 1 Asian copy! For $8 bucks, not a bad price to get you out of minor jam.
