Viva Pedro --> 1/30/2007!
8 Films by Pedro Almodovar (Women On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown / All About My Mother / Talk To Her / The Flower Of My Secret / Live Flesh / Bad education / and for the first time [and only available in the set] Law Of Desire and Matador) is being released by Sony Home Entertainment on Jan. 30th, 2007! This is a 9 disc set!
The official announce date is November 20, when more details will be released. The suggested retail is set for $117.95. I've been waiting for "Matador" for years.
This looks to be an awesome set!

Very nice! Are we to assume the older titles already on DVD will be remastered, or is this too much to ask?
Also, can't wait for Sony's trademark enormous yellow subtitles (which get bigger and uglier with every release, I swear).

I'm so glad that I sold my copy of Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown earlier this year for a decent price.
What about Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! and Kika? I was expecting them to be rereleased also since the earlier releases are OOP. Is that by Sony too?

Who am I kidding, I want the exclusives so I guess ebay it is.

I preordered this set on Amazon about 2 weeks ago when the price was listed at $23.99, the price is holding in my account info still, so hopefully I'll make out like a bandit. I only have two of the discs, and that will be easy enough to get rid of.

Only have Talk To Her, so no big overlap assuming Amazon honors the preorder price (mistake).

I don't think this boxset is being released in Canada as Amazon.ca does not have it listed. Can anybody confirm this or is aware of the situation?
I think I'm going to preorder this set from Amazon.com.

Thanks to whoever pointed me to this thread. I opened up a new one. The search engine here strikes again
And it was on the page too.
Anyway, any word on whether or not the titles already available will have new transfers? Also, will these be sold individually soon?

DVD Beaver has a review of the boxset and according to them, is a must buy for Almodovar fans in Region 1. Some of the transfers are the same from previous releases while others are improved.
The only blemish on the set seems to be the yellow subtitles in most of the movies.

A few notes: 4 of the DVDs (Live Flesh, Bad Education, Talk to Her and The Flower of My Secret) appear to be duplicates of the existing Region 1 releases (extras too) with Bad Education being the NC-17 (not visually censored) cut. All About My Mother and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown are different than the previously released individual discs (see samples below) - the Viva Pedro package contains superior transfers (from remastered prints). Matador and Law of Desire are seeing their first light of day - digitally-speaking - in region 1. We have compared both to their PAL counterparts (UK).

I'm mortified that Sony didn't carry over all the features from the old DVDs, especially for All About My Mother, cause that was the reason I would have sold my old copy of Bad Education and get the set.

Good news either way
