MGM Documentary "When The Lion Roars" on DVD?
Is there any hope of the excellent MGM Documentary "When The Lion Roars" (1992) being released on DVD?
I have a VHS copy from UK TV but its getting old.
Very good and interesting, if a bit gushing sometimes.
I mean this one here:

DVD Talk Legend
It's terrific - I taped it from Turner Classic Movies when it was first shown, and I'd grab it in a minute if it came out on DVD. So far, no word, though I can't imagine this not showing up eventually.

It was shown on BBC2 in the UK in 2001/2 I think. It really is a great documentary, colourful and interesting, the ending is quite sad
According to the IMDB boards warner actually have it ready to go on DVD (all 3 parts?) theyre just looking for a suitable release window.
I just want the documentary, not other films bundled with it

DVD Talk Limited Edition
This phenomenal (and comprehensive) documentary series is being released by Warner on Jan. 20. Finally! I can't praise this show highly enough.
Someone recently added the opening montage at Youtube, but unfortunately it ends before revealing the massive set built for host Patrick Stewart.

Re: MGM Documentary on DVD?
I've just read on Amazon that all the Fred Astaire footage has been replaced with something else - any idea why? That footage is in my TV broadcast from the early 2000's.
Without that footage, Debbie Renoylds' story about Gene Kelly being mean to her during Singin' In The Rain (and Fred helping her dance) doesnt make any sense.

Yes, that is a real shame. One shouldn´t be wanting money just to skow clips with Fred Astaire in a documentary. In other words: Greed!

Re: MGM Documentary on DVD?
I'll still buy this but its a good thing I have the original version even if the quality is nowhere near as good.
What did they replace the Fred Astaire footage with?
In the original version, at the start of Part 2, Ricardo Montalban says MGM wanted a "crisp, clean look, the floors were polished" etc, showing a clip of Fred and Ginger (I think?) from Broadway Melody of 1940. Without that clip, his comments make zero sense. The floor was polished so well, you can see their reflections upside down on the floor as they dance.
