They should include a PSA on every DVD about the dangers of officious condescending pricks running Hollywood studios...

I've been a non-smoker for life as well, and I don't need to be reminded. I got enough smoke from my mom and dad growing up, although my dad quit.

Hopefully, along with WS/FS, they'll come out with Smoker/Non-smoker editions.

I've smoked for 30 years and can't imagine some kid taking up smoking because he/she sees it in the movies. Starting smoking sucks, they taste bad, make you dizzy and lightheaded, give you a headache and can make you feel sick(for the first week or two). There has to be stronger motivation to go through that such as wanting to fit in with a particular crowd or impress some girl who smokes or runs with a crowd that smokes. If a character kids think is cool smokes, but nobody they know smokes, smoking won't gain them anything socially, which is why they start. Now, if an actual person they know smokes, and that person is Mr. Cool in there part of the world, then there is a stronger likelihood they'll smoke. What got me and my friends started is that our older brothers smoked and we thought our brothers and their friends were cool. All four Beatles smoked and in almost every interview one or all of them have a cigarette going, if that couldn't cause a mass smoking epidemic nothing could.
If you are a smoker and see someone light up on screen it makes you want a cigarette right then and there. I could see how on screen smoking would make it harder to quit.

That why i'm not too happy either.

Apparently, kids are taking up smoking after seeing the PSAs:

This is such a waste of money and resources.

Horrible idea, but maybe they can at least get John Waters to do them.
