Nightmare Before Christmas DVD

I've noticed that this is becomming harder and harder to find, is this because of a new DVD release? I know that there is a new 3D release of the movie coming out in theaters, but who knows if that will even make it to DVD. I'm just wondering on if I should hold out for a new release, or if I should scramble and pick one up asap.

While I doubt a 3D DVD release, I would assume a new DVD version would be coming in the next yr or so. (hopefully in an HD format too)

the copy that is out now is OOP...Looks like they pulled it for the theatrical run of the movie....probably next halloween before you see it again.

keep in mind that the current release is non anamorphic...but it does include two other films, which may not show on a new release. ala "Tin Toy" on the toy story release

hopefully Disney will come to it's senses and release this on both BD and HD-DVD - in anamorphic, no doubt

There was a Hot Topic exclusive box with a Jack night light. That's the only R1 box set I know of and it's OOP. Are you talking about a foreign box set? There is this from Japan. I have the R2 UK DVD for the anamorphic transfer.

Well HD is already native to the widescreen resolution of your HDTV, it won't need to be anamorphic.

Yea, and don't forget an SD release also in anamorphic, for those of us not interested in hi-def.

It was just the R1 DVD packaged in a coffin shaped box with a night light. Not too big a deal IMHO but I might have bought it if it had been anamorphic.

There is an anamorphic R2 release:
http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/DVDCom...eforexmas3.htm

but I'm hoping that with the 3D re-release here in the states, we'll get one in R1 soon enough.

I wouldn't count on it. I read in the paper that Disney hopes to make this an annual release in theaters. I saw it, and I'd see it again. The blue/red glasses really wouldn't work with the 3D they upgraded it to.

Holy cow, I just checked out the used prices for this title....my goodness! I had no idea it was so in demand.....might be due to the fact that next week is Halloween?

I was thinking about selling my copy, but now I'm not sure. There's been no indication of an anamorphic release, and this DVD doesn't look all that bad zoomed.

Is this the DVD that you are having second thoughts to scramble?

It was sold exclusively at hottopic around $30++ couple of yeas ago.

The manufacturer of the boxset and plastic figure inside was Necca.

sorry to hijack this thread, but i guess im on a new mission...

can anyone figure a fair price to offer for new hot topic exclusive set?

but to contribute at least something, last time (about 3 weeks ago) i was at the hollywood, ca tower video (yes going out of business), they had stacks of the regular special edition for about $20 before discount.

anyone interested in this? i might be able to pick up a few in the near future.

If you're talking about TNBC hot topic set, I saw one on ebay a few days ago and it was at $82 with still a day or so left to go.

If you can still find The Nightmare Before Christmas SE I'd be willing to take one.

I was watching that set on ebay the other day too...it ended for $125. Tempting but there's no way i'm parting with my set.

If anybody needs this dvd Bill mentioned two posts up that DDD has it in stock....$29 with James and the Giant Peach.

Damn, is the outter coffin box a flimsy throwaway box? In other words, if you take out the nightlight, is the coffin box pretty much useless?
