Any reason to keep Matrix DVDs if you have boxset?
I'm torn as to whether or not to keep the Matrix trilogy + the Animatrix since I have the boxset; is there any particular reason to? I've traded in so many double dips in the FYE deal (36 movies so far, mostly double dips) and some I just can't pull the trigger on, like he original Raging Bull amd Jaws releases. Are all the features on the original Matrix DVDs in the box set?
Thanks

There's no reason to keep them, unless you like the idea of having more Keanu Reeves than the normal person.
Trade them in, and get some more stuff. While your at it, sell Jaws and Raging Bull too.

i have the boxset as well as the individually released discs, and i cant justify getting rid of them. especially since id prolly get only a couple of bucks for each.
instead, i use the individuals for viewing purposes. i rarely watch the extras discs on a regular basis, but i actually do watch the original at least twice a year.
and maybe someone else can clarify if the boxset has all the special extras because i really dont know lol. my guess would be yes. another guess would be an hd or blue-ray disc very soon (if not already out) with possibly more stuff?

There are some missing special features in the box set.
The MTV movie awards parody for The Matrix Reloaded is not included, and I believe there was a score-only track on The Matrix that is not in the box set. There may be some other things, as well.
As for The Animatrix, the disc in the box set is the exact same as the original release, just with different artwork and a different menu scheme.

There are many threads regarding the Matrix boxset but here are three that might have your answer:
which Matrix boxset are you buying?
Well, it's official...The Ultimate Matrix Collection announced by WB
Ultimate Matrix Collection - Are you upgrading or doubledipping ?

This DVDTalk Review will tell you everything that made it and didn't make it onto the Ultimate Collection.

The only DVD that's exactly the same is The Animatrix.

Bye
It's probably covered in one of the threads that others have provided links to, but one thing I have read is that the version of "The Matrix Revisited" in the boxed set doesn't have the section "The Fans" (or is at least missing part of it), where people who apparently found STAR WARS too realistic to follow as a religion as others have, explain how "The Matrix" was a movie they could finally take far too seriously and actually run their lives by. It's quite pathetic, and one of the main reasons I'm planning to eventually buy the boxed set is so I can get the revised version of "The Matrix Revisited". I'm not 100% sure, but I'm also thinking that some features that were easter eggs on the original disc are menu-accessible on the boxed set.

Here's a brief list of what's mentioned in the review as missing:
"The Matrix"
Commentary track by actress Carrie-Anne Moss, visual effects supervisor John Gaeta, and editor Zach Staenberg
"Making of the Matrix" featurette
Isolated Score (with commentary) by Don Davis
"The Matrix Revisited"
Featurettes:
"What Is to Come?"
"What Is the Animatrix?"
"Whatisthematrix.com?"
"The True Followers"
"The Matrix Reloaded"
Featurettes:
"Preload"
"The Matrix Unfolds"
"The Freeway Chase"
"Get Me an Exit"
"The MTV Movie Awards Reoladed"
"The Matrix Revolutions"
Featurettes:
"Revolutions Recalibrated"
"CG Revolution"
"Super Burly Brawl"
"Before the Revolution"
"3-D Evolution"
"The Animatrix"
"Enter the Matrix: In the Making" featurette (a 3-minute preview of the Enter the Matrix video game)
Personally, having had them all, I kept the original "The Matrix" disc for the commentaries and kept "The Matrix Reloaded" for the MTV parody, but found all other material in the featurettes redundant after watching everything from the box set.
