Retro Science Fiction Adventures Box Sets?
I searched and found nothing in the forums or the reviews for these. Has anyone seen the Retro Science Fiction Adventures Box Sets? There is currently 1 volume out that comes with the following movies:
ATOMIC RULERS OF THE WORLD
PHANTOM FROM SPACE
4 episodes of FLASH GORDON TV series
all 12 eps of tv series RADAR MEN FROM THE MOON
3 eps of ROCKY JONES, SPACE RANGER: MENACE FROM OUTER SPACE
and it also comes with a Robot figure. DDD has it here:
http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=ALP000100
Amazon also has it here:
http://www.amazon.com/Retro-Science-...?ie=UTF8&s=dvd
and they have 2 other volumes, too.
So, does anyone know anything about these or have these?
Thanks,
David

I missed this one when it came out. Those wind-up robots look cool (and supposedly really work). There are some reviews at this site: http://www.oldies.com/product-view/RSFA3P.html
People seem pleased, and this site has by far the best prices on this item ($20 for each set or $50 for all 3).

There are only 2 reviews on this site, and they seem to focus more on the robots than on the movies themselves. Amazon.com doesn't have any reviews either, and I can't seem to find any more on the web. So, does anyone actually have these suckers?

Alpha's releases all come from public domain prints of varying quality - they're kind of a crap shoot. I've had some Alpha discs turn out fairly solid, while others are darn near unwatchable. Considering the individual discs run $5-10 a pop, the box sets (especially that three-fer) isn't such a bad deal. Think of it as paying for really nice toys and getting mediocre DVDs on the side.
