Any Miami Vice dvd News??

I just noticed on cd-wow it's being released on Nov 27th in Region 2. No details yet though. I'd imagine Region 1 release news will be around the corner.

Any known features? Mann commentary? DTS? The trailers (which I greatly doubt).

It would be nice if they released season three in conjunction with the movie.

why would someone want to buy the worst and the most unwatchable movie of all time on DVD?

That's a rather subjective statement.

I loved this movie and can't wait to crank the sound up. I'm hoping for an HD-DVD release.

The movie could greatly benefit from a director's cut which Mann has done on previous dvd releases. Here's hoping there's one down the line since Farrell and Foxx are interested in doing a sequel.

That is why I came into the thread. I was hoping it would be on HD-DVD. I think it is Universal so it would make a nice little Day and Date Exclusive for HD-DVD this holiday season.

I remember seeing a photo recently of the HD-DVD roadshow and it did have a poster for the new Miami Vice.

Mann can't make up his mind with his cuts. I remember seeing Heat on HBO and the last scene witih DeNiro and Pacino was different. I also prefer the theatrical cut of Last Of The Mohicans.

I believe if he gets his cut of Miami Vice it will be really boring as test screeners have said.

Further Details:
Universal Home Video has sent over early details on the Michael Mann directed Miami Vice which stars Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell. The film will be available to own in seperate standard (2 hours 13 minutes) and unrated (2 hours 20 minutes) editions from the 5th December this year. Each will retail at around $29.98. Both discs will carry a 2.40:1 anamorphic widescreen presentation, along with English and French Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks. The extra material has yet to be confirmed I'm afraid, but we'll bring you further details shortly. We are also able to confirm that a HD DVD/Combo release will also be available from the 5th, priced at $39.98. This will contain both versions of the film. Stay tuned for further details

I hope we get a 2-disc set that would be nice. If it makes enough money on dvd hopefully we will get a sequel.

Yeah for HD-DVD, wonder if it will be unrated or theatrical or both?

animatedude, threadcrapping is against forum rules. If you aren't interested in the DVD, then please don't post in the thread.

According to the Universal website, the unrated director's cut is only seven minutes longer than the theatrical version. I hardly think this is going to "improve" the movie. It seems more like a marketing scheme since the movie did not do as well as expected. Knowing Universal there will probably be several more versions of this dvd (ala "Scarface") yet to come.

Because I LIKED it.
"of all time"? Jesus, the hyperbole of the Internet has just destroyed all effectiveness of written language.
And I agree that Mann can't make up his mind with his later cuts (which is what past "director's cuts" have been--later tinkerings). I prefer the cinema cuts of all of his films. If this is a pre-release "director's cut", I'll be interested, if I could have it along with the cinema cut.

I love this quote from a toerag at DVDActive:

"Bad Boys 2 felt more like Miami Vice than Miami Vice did"

That statement is so moronic it's not worth commenting on.

I personally liked Miami Vice - and definitely way more than Bad Boys 2 so I am looking forward to the dvd. I guess the problem was a lot of people expected Miami Vice to be this non-stop, Michael Bay-inspired, shoot-out films drenched in Miami neon lights.

Although Michael Mann is easily one of my top 3 favorite film directors, I feel Miami Vice is his weakest offering in over a decade. But I still enjoyed it more than most, it seems. This is one DVD I'll be adding to my collection come December 12th.

I don't have a problem with Mann's "director's cuts", so I'm guessing I'll want to pick up the extended version unless it bogs down the film. Any word yet on what has been added?
