Best Looking DVD on you HDTV
So far the Star Wars Revenge of the Sith is hands down the best looking standard DVD transfer I've seen on my HDTV.
I've got a Samsung DLP HLS5086 connected via HDMI to a Sony Upconversion player. Granted my TV has not been professionally calibrated.
So far I've tried
SW: TPM
LOTR EE: FOTR and ROTK (biggest disappointment esp. FOTR. Looks good but didn't meet my high expectations)
Man on Fire
Austin Powers: Spy Who Shagged Me
Saving Private Ryan
The Fifth Element (suprisingly looks great despite being the old non-anamorphic disc)
Wyatt Earp
In the Mood For Love
Moulin Rouge
The Proposition
The Squid and the Whale
The Pixar movie The Incredibles looks great as well but of all the "live action" films SW:ROTS so far looks the best. Almost High Def. (Of course ROTS is heavy CG and recent film)

Believe it or not, it's a tie between "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" and the Superbit "Resident Evil". I'm working with a 42" Sony 3LCD Grand WEGA & Sony DVPNS75H w/HDMI & Upconversion, all professionally calibrated.

Amazingly, Planet of the Apes (1967) remastered looks close to HD on my 61" Samsung DLP through my OPPO upconverting DVD player. Most of the films in the new remastered Apes set look fantastic. Better than a lot of recent studio releases I've screened.

I'd go with Resident Evil Superbit, but I have to say I just watched Hard Candy last night and that looked fucking amazing upconverted, to the point where I hesitate to pick up an HD player.

Any Pixar stuff (as previously mentioned), especially the new Toy Story 1 & 2 reissues.
Criterion's Do the Right Thing still holds up nicely...the colors are amazingly rich!
Another "oldie" but goodie is Paramount's barebones release of A Simple Plan.
Not much room for improvement there!
