How hard is it to put a giant superman logo on the cover. There you go...classy,easy, done!

ETA : Wait, maybe I'm lost. Is this NOT the cover they're going with ? Oh man, if they go with those other covers we reviewed I am not gonna be happy.

What are they putting in the coffee over there at those business meetings? They should know better, their best bet is to take a few examples out to people on the street and do a survey, and take a popular vote. The people would probably vote in the R4 tin artwork. It would require barely any effort on Warner's part, just pay somebody an hourly salary to walk and take a survey and vote in the most eye catching, popular artwork.

Thanks a lot. Now I see why all the fuss. The 2 disc is really bad.

LorenzoL 09-15-06 08:40 PM

Thanks for posting the links.

WTF is going on with WB and their awful looking cover arts for all of the Superman related releases? The Reeves movie cover arts are horrible, Supergirl is even worse and now this proposed cover arts for Superman Returns DVDs are awful. I can't even imagine what kind of cover art they are thinking of putting on the Superman II: Donner's cut DVD.

After looking at the 1-disc cover again, I noticed it looks like Supes' cape is in danger of getting sucked into the jet engine. Didn't the artist see The Incredibles?? :)

SuprVgeta 09-15-06 08:55 PM

I'm definitely in for the 2-disc version as well.

SuprVgeta 09-15-06 09:01 PM

and wow... that coverart is very ugly... I want that tin version with the movie poster as the cover...

Okay, this is direct from Warner, the conceptual art for the Donner cut. Don't shoot the messenger:

Very funny, but this is what the actual Superman 2 cover will look like.

This is straight from Warner.

They're saving that for the boxset cover.

Wow. I've seen some bad DVD art before, but THAT is just ghastly.

freshticles 09-16-06 08:05 AM

See? Those last two posts really show how much better fan art is than the stuff coming out of the studios.

Happy reading!

Nice review Randy, I still don't understand why Fox wont get a clue and release a good 2-discer right off the bat, like Warner does. -ohbfrank-

Great stuff, Randy, thank you.

Loved this movie-- easily the best theatrical experience all year-- and will be all over this DVD. Can't wait to see it again. Just hope the deleted Return to Krypton scene is presented on a future re-release. Perhaps that will be timed with the 2009 sequel.
