DVD Collection Sites
I notice that a lot of you guys use DVD Aficionado and DVD Profiler. I use DVDSpot. Is there better advantages to using these other sites than what I use? I like to use DVDSpot because I group all of my dvds in alphabetical order and I can make any category filter at DVDSpot to group my collection. This way what ever mood I am in, I just pick a category filter and browse through it and choose a dvd. I don't necessarily agree with how some sites categorize certain movies. I also like the way it looks, the great forums, the way it shows your collection's statitistics (top actors, directors, genres, etc).

I just signed up with Listal.com. It's still in beta, but it's got a great Web 2.0 interface and it also allows you to catalog your books, music, and videogames. It's not Guzzlefish, but it could be with time.

From: Right now, my location is DVDTalk, but then again, you should already know that, shouldn't you?

The reason why I will never enter all my DVD's on an online only database. I did it with DVD Aficionado since it was easy as hell to bulk input my 2000 discs, but I won't be shocked when the webmaster gets tired of it and pulls the plug. I use Movie Collector for full control of my database locally.

DVDProfiler also lets you sort by genres and get statistics.
However, one thing I don't think you can do (that Guzzlefish had) is find out something like the leading actor or director in your collection. You can click on a name and see what you have with that person, but there's no way to immediately find out who you have the most films with.
The thing I like about Profiler is that you have a local program, but your collection can be uploaded online if you want that as well.

Of the two I've tried (Profiler and Aficionado) I much prefer DVDprofiler. Back when I had dial up it would freeze from time to time, but since I got Hi speed I haven't had one bit of trouble uploading or downloading. It works great both online and off. Of course I hardly ever look at the online list, I mostly use it offline.

I've used DVDaff all along and haven't found any reason to switch. I can sort of understand the appeal of Profiler, but to me, it's such an ugly, clumsy thing.
I would like it if DVDaff had the actor/director/company stats that Guzzlefish did, though. Any of these others do it?

It would be nice to have some of the advantages of the other sites, but I started with DVD Afficianado several years back, and there's no way I'm going to switch at this point. (Not that I'm unhappy with DVDAF.)

Well I've been looking for a online filing system to keep track of my DVD's .... I'll try this little annoying you have to search each title and not by bulk. Might take a while to add 4000+ movies. There has got to be a faster way.

Profiler. I like running it locally with online backup, I like the filters and reports, and it's what I'm used to. I hope it doesn't die : (

I urge everyone who has DVD Profiler to at least keep a backup with dvdaf. It's as easy as exporting your list to a text file, then pasting that file in Quick Import.

I've used DVDAf and DVD Profiler but have grown increasingly frustrated with their lack of flexibility. I've started building my own database in Access where I can just add or modify features whenever the mood strikes me.
