There was a thread here about this, and I believe it was a sticky, but it was out of date and cluttered.

salamander2 09-03-06 05:27 AM

probably over 10,000 titles, not worth listing everything IMHO

critterdvd 09-03-06 06:14 AM

'The Legend of Billy Jean'
'The Monster Squad'

are two biggies

kevkev 09-03-06 06:22 AM

if there is a list somewhere i'd love to see it. sure there probably is 1000's but there cant be that many from films made in the last 20 years.
i think magnificent amberson did get a dvd release. yeah monster squad and night of the creeps for sure.

I would suspect that there are more movies that have NOT been released on DVD than those that have.

For starters on a list, you can stop by my place and copy down the titles of the 500 or so VHS tapes I bought of movies yet to appear on DVD, and then go on to the 500-700 additional titles taped commericial-free from various TV channels (AMC, TMC, etc.).

Yes, and Night of the Creeps, which I personally like more than Monster Squad. Magnificent Ambersons is a big one, too. There are many.

kevkev 09-03-06 10:11 AM

i retracted ambersons because there is a uk region 2 release
http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/91789...s/Product.html
you always get people on uk forums moaning about things not being on region 2 and i always tell them to shut up and go multiregion. i guess it's not really possible for americans.

there must be a site with all this info on but i cant find it. i imagine there are loads of tv movies etc.. but are there really that many films that were given theatrical releases?

i prefer monster squad as it brings back fond memories of seeing it as a kid.

Take a look at the Maltin Video & Movie Guide - each title that has appeared on any form of home video has the appropriate icon after its description (for VHS, laserdisc and DVD). There are thousands that have not yet appeared on DVD.

At least I'm finally adding 2 of my 3 most wanted mia titales soon...and even on the same day. The Other and They All Laughed are just around the corner.

Still waiting for an Inside Moves announcement.

There are over 263 films on my essentials list that have not been given even a whisper of hope.

And at least 1 title that will never, ever be in my library in it's complete original form....London After Midnight.

Why not? Sure it's not as easy as going from PAL to NTSC but it's not impossible.

Hey Reaper, good news: Let's Scare Jessica was finally released last week on DVD by Paramount, with a great transfer.

dx23 09-03-06 01:32 PM

Scavenger Hunt
No Holds Barred
Angus

Bugg 09-03-06 01:38 PM

The one that really sticks out for me is the 1987 film Housekeeping. I really don't understand why Columbia have not put this great film out on dvd, yet have blessed us with multiple releases of The Animal. -ohbfrank-

Squall280 09-03-06 01:42 PM

Airborne

Here are some I am waiting for:

Cannery Row
Student Bodies
American Anthem
Zapped!
Wisdom
Mortuary (1983)
Meatballs 3

Gigantopithecus 09-03-06 01:46 PM

Green Hornet tv series

No Time for Sergeants

:(

That movie is a comedy classic in my opinion, and deserves a full blown special edition.
