My vote for most unnecessary double dips is Columbia/TriStar. With Fox and Universal a distant 2nd.
My vote for best and most necessary double dips is Criteron and Warner Brothers.
Paramount and Miramax/Disney, unfortunately, are gaining on Fox and Universal for unnecessary dipping.
And my vote for the all time worst double/triple dips are:
Carlito's Way(Ultimate Edition)
13 Going on 30
Nixon
Born on the Fourth of July
That's all I can think of right now...please post your opinions.

I vote for Anchor Bay ....specifically Evil Dead 1, 2, and Army of Darkness.
Just look at Xage's Collection for proof.
Oh yeah, How could I forget Halloween. They've released that one in more flavors than Baskin Robbins has.

I don't consider any new release unnecessary. Re-releases are more for giving a DVD a new marketing campaign and front shelf space in stores than getting people who bought it before to buy it again, contrary to what you'll read on some little web sites. I'm able to make a decision on if I should buy a new edition of a movie when they come out based on improved picture or sound quality or substantial extras. Usually the answer is: no. So, it's never really bothered me.

The KING is Criterion because all of their double and triple dips are nuggets of gold and are just about ALWAYS worth the purchase.
The Court Jester of Double Dips, however ... all I can say is "How many editions of Black Hawk Down, The Patriot, and The Missing do we REALLY need?"

Anchor Bay. I just hope they will eventually get it right and release the print for the R3 version of Army of Darkness on dvd! The A/V is 100% improvement over all the R1's put together.
