According to http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=7225863 it says it is widescreen. I hope that helps.

Yeah, I know and it says widescreen on deepdiscountdvd, but that doesn't always mean anamorphic.

Okay, I really don't know if it's anamorphic. However, the version that was released in the box set was anamorphic, and that was the first version of this film on DVD. I seriously doubt that Fox would go to the trouble of creating a new non-anamorphic master for the individual release.

With Young Frankenstein, it was different because there were copies of the non-anamorphic version that they wanted to get rid of, so it got packed in with some of the boxed sets.

I would be VERY surprised if this disc was any different from what was released in the boxed set. If you're not sure, don't order.

Yeah, I remember thinking "wow, it's finally out" when that set came out, but yeah just my luck the individual release is non-anamorphic.

Where are you getting that it is non-anamorphic? I have seen nothing on any site to indicate that is it not anamorphic just like the only other region 1 release.

I'm not saying it's non-anamorphic. It's just that some times when it just says "Widescreen" and not "Anamorphic Widescreen" (see deepdiscountdvd), it turns out to be non-anamorphic. Not always, but sometimes.

See these two examples:
http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=BVD015369
(Armageddon just says widescreen, and it is a non-anamorphic dvd)

http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=MGD003332
(Usual Suspects says anamorphic widescreen)

Now, this isn't always true for all cases and odds are robin hood is indeed anamorphic as the one in the set is and also most new dvds are.

Now that it's out, can anyone confirm it's anamorphic?

It is indeed anamorphic. Here is a screenshot. Curious though. The back appears to say it is just Dolby surround. My Yamaha RX-V 3300 picks it up as 5.0. I stuck my ears up to my rears and it appears to be a 5.0 soundtrack (ala BTILC). There's also a pic of that (notice no sub icon). Is that what Universal means when they say Dolby surround?

Quote from the back of the box:

WIDESCREEN
ANAMORPHIC
1.85:1

Well, it's certainly not Dolby Surround. It registered on my receiver, Yamaha HTR-5930, as Dolby Digital, and got sound from all 5 speakers.

This really sucks. They didn't have it at my Best Buy, Circuit City, or Target. I hope walmart near me has it for $7.50, haha. Well, at worst I can order it from deepdiscountdvd.
