As long as my DVDs can still play in a DVD player they are as good as the day I bought them.

I didn't buy them for their "value" in the first place, millions of people all over the world have copies of the exact same discs so they're not exactly collectable in any way, and frankly, there are much better options if you're looking for some kind of return investment than dvds.

This is a big reason why sales have plateaued. Joe Average now realizes this.

For the most part, I consider DVDs to be a "consumable". Once I've opened the DVD and watched it, I consider it to be worth virtually nothing. All it is worth is my enjoyment of it. I have a few titles that have value--my sealed Criterion Notorious, sealed ET gift box, sealed leather-bound R3 Dances with Wolves, a few others. BUt mostly, I assume the typical $5-$10 title to be worthless once opened.

About 25% of my titles are from the Wal-Mart bin, and it is rare that I pay more than $10 for anything, so I guesstimate I probably spent around $3,000 on my 400+ DVD collection. I doubt that I could recover much more than $1,000-1,500 in a fire sale, the bulk of that coming from the 40 or so that are still sealed.

Is there a DVD Price Guide anywhere, I know I have a lot of OOP's and HTF DVD, the only thing I can go on for a value if eBay and many ar not the real deal but bootlegs. Been trying to compile a value list for insurance reasons as my collection is well over 5000 movies from high value to cheap-o commons.

None, as the only value I cared about when buying each one of them is entertainment value.

If you are happy with your library you should never be concerned about depreciation.

Who are generally better athletes when it comes to Greco-Roman wrestling? Single-reed or double-reed woodwindists? Or do the flautists just completely own them? I can't stand people who wouldn't know what to do with wood in their mouths.

Ha...I am sorry I could not answer your question(s). It appears you actually have some experience with the above matter and probably know better. Unfortunately, I don't.

Fortunately most of mine were purchased very early on during the booming internet days, After that, used for less than $10. Now for the last year I just rent from BB online and purchase very little. Usually just SE's for birthday or Christmas lists.

It still bothers me to find DVD's in the bargain bin so quickly after I had to run out and get it for an immediate viewing.
