As often happens, I'm not crazy about the cover art -- they seem to be mostly "Ultimate Collection" silvery, with only a small patch of movie-related artwork on each cover. I'm all for slimcases, but the only two Bond films I have any interest in are "A View To A Kill" (the only one I ever saw in the theater) and "Never Say Never Again", which isn't in this set for obvious reasons (and I just remembered I did see that in the theater as well). I do own an "Asian import" of Die Another Day, but I have no desire to upgrade.

Guess I'll stick with the individual releases of the first two I mentioned, at least until they're released individually on Blu-ray and I can actually afford a Blu-ray player of some kind.

Best Buy Bond Buyers, what exactly is on the scene it bonus disc? Also, are the bonus discs in vol1 and vol2 different? I'm trying to decide if the bonus discs are worth getting over the cheape prices elsewhere.

Sure, Hi-def editions are on the way. No doubt about it.

Perhaps a better question is how many Bond films would you actually buy in Hi-Def (i.e. more expensive versions)?

I would see what the results look like and if are really good get Goldfinger, Goldeneye, Dr. No, Thunderball, From Russian With Love and TMWTGG.

The rest ... only a better price point, if then.

So, have better versions now with boxsets of 5 films at 43.91 at DDD (no tax and delivered) ... it's within the tolerance.

One thing I'm sure of is that the hi-def versions won't be released as boxsets. Cause most of us will tell them to pound sand.

But I'm a sucker for Bond. And based on the bargain thread ... there are a ton of guys like me.

Considering the whopping potential to sell maybe a couple hundred thousand hi-def copies, I can picture Sony just wetting themselves to get these babies to market.

The Best Buy Scene It bonus disk contains a small sample of the content of the James Bond Scene It game. The bonus disk lets you access a couple of different categories such as "All Play" in which you have to guess the name of a character, location, or movie based upon their voice or pictures. The other game type on the disc is called "My Play" in which you watch a 2-3 minute random clip from one of the movies, and then answer a question about some particular detail found within the clip such as "What type of car was Bond driving?"


I bought both Volume 1 & 2 from Best Buy, and the Scene It bonus disks appear to be the same in each volume. If you are interested in Bond trivia or to see what the game might be like, I would pick it up from Best Buy. However, if you are not that interested in Bond trivia, I would would probably go with the cheaper prices elsewhere.

Some guy on HTF just put a bunch of individual titles from the UE volumes up on ebay and A View To A Kill is one of them. Just in case you're interested in picking it up individually.

We were actually playing the SceneIt Harry Potter game this weekend, and it's pretty fun. We also have the TV version, and it uses a lot of classic, Nick at Nite type shows. It also has trivia questions, usually in-universe, and behind the scenes, and also cards that just say to do something like Chance in Monopoly. It's a great party game, esp with mix and match teams.



I keep reading this thread and getting very tempted, but I really don't have the money for them, and with the possibility of an HD release so close, I can wait. And I hardly watch the few that I have.

I'm new to the Forum. I'm building a film library for my home theater system.
My latest quest is the entire James Bond series. I've been looking at the Volume 1 & 2 collections. They retail for about $90 per set but you can find them much cheaper. I've been Googling and have found you can end up with some real junk DVDs that are either bootleg copies or of poor quality.

You're welcome. The next 2 volumes come out December 12. Your best bet on those will be to get them that first week if one of the major retailers has a deal for buying both. Circuit City had the first 2 volumes for $95 for both last week. Best Buy had them for $99. They'll probably have similar deals next month on volumes 3 & 4.

I just bought Volume 1 & 2 which are already on retailer shelves. That's 20 movies. What next 2 volumes are you talking about?

The sets you bought contain 5 movies each (10 total discs each). Each movie is on a disc and bonus features are on the other disc.

Volume 3 will include Goldeneye, Live and Let Die, For Your Eyes Only, From Russia with Love, and On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Volume 4 will round out the presentation with Dr. No, You Only Live Twice, Octopussy, Tomorrow Never Dies, and Moonraker.

I still think they should have released 40-disc James Bonds set (all 20 movies) as they did it in Europe. They shouldn't have chopped these movies in 4 volumes.

I'm still learning. My first link turns out to be the best. All 20 movies for $118. It looks like these movies got packaged different ways. I must be more careful in the future. Fortunately my other buys/sequels were not near as many and easier to understand what I was doing. So it looks like I also need Volume 3

As my User Name suggests, I'm a big Star Wars fan. Buying all 6 of those movies was rather easy.

It looks like we have a new James Bond so there will be more Bond movies to buy.

Your first link was not an official USA release. That web page lists the set as "an official foreign release." Stick with Region 1 official releases.


40 total discs (2 per movie) on the official USA releases which will be spread out over 4 volumes.

That first link you posted looks pretty bogus. The Bonds were never packaged that way for Region 1. At least based on the images they're showing. Since half of the new Ultimate Editions haven't even been released yet, the ones that site has must be the older editions or bootlegs.

You also asked where did the 40 come from? The poster said 40 discs, not 40 Bond movies. 20 movies x 2 discs each = 40 discs.

But they are Region 1 NTSC format. It must not include the special feature discs which is really not a big deal. Sure is a lot cheaper. But I'm committed now to the 5 movie purchases now.

Looks like a lot of their box sets are from China (I can read it). Official release should be in PAL format not NTSC. I wouldn't take the chance if I were you.
