Starship Troopers Ski...ping

Just wondering if anyone else's copy of Starship Troopers SE is skipping like mine. During the scene where Rico and gang meet their new commander (Rico's old teacher) the disc stutters and maybe even skips a split second. Someone in the back yells "Attention on deck!" and then the audio and video both kind of stutter before the new commander comes walking out.

Anyway... my disc did this, so I exchanged it (from the same Best Buy) and it did it again, so I figured that store got a bad batch and went to a different Best Buy and the same thing is happening now.

At first I thought it was my DVD player (Philips DVD727), but the same thing happens in the exact same spot on my portable DVD player as well.

Should I try exchanging AGAIN or is this common?

Thanks for the help!

I watched this disc about a week ago and didn't notice any skipping.

Thanks. I guess I'll try exchanging at yet another Best Buy... way across town. =P

Sounds to me like your dvd player is just adjusting its lens to read another part of the disc. Lots of DVDS do that. It's very common. (if this is the case)

Yeah. I was thinking that too. Like maybe that's the point where it begins reading the next layer... though I'm not sure if ST is dual layer. The only thing is... I own about 500 dvds and it NEVER does this... and there's got to be another dual layer (if that's the case) in my collection somewhere...

I dunno. I imagine I'll try one more time and then quit if it's still the case. I have to use my 6.99 napoleon dynamite rain check finally. I've given up trying to find a BB with the slip cover.

I would try the disk in another player, sounds like your player may have problems reading this particular disk. Happens to me sometimes with my portable player, the disk will give me problems in the portable player and then it plays fine in my regular player.

Thanks for the advice. It skips at the exact same spot on both my philips dvd player and toshiba portable dvd player. I'm pretty sure it's the disc... but who knows... I could be wrong. Either way... I'll try swapping it out one last time.
