If the new Apocalypse Now SE isn't getting an HD set any time soon, then Scrooged sure isn't, either (especially since Paramount is only doing approximately 10 more HD titles this year). Of course, I'd love to have Scrooged on HD DVD, but it doesn't look likely.

As for the transfer, Paramount gave the Clueless SE a new transfer (even though the old one looked fine), while the Ferris Bueller SE seemed to use the old transfer (though I'm not sure on that one). So we won't know until official specs are released or until reviews pop up.

I own the 1st Scrooged dvd and I love the movie but I don't watch it to often so no double-dip for me.

My friends and I quote lines from Scrooged all year long. And "Yule love it" is one of them! I think this is great news and I'm in!

Some of our favorite quotes:

"If I can change it in the next five minutes, I'll let you know."

"It's a little late to be getting this kind of feedback."

"It's a toaster!"

"This is one Santa that's going out the front door."

"If I can't work late... I can't work late!"

"They're like that every day of the year - I guarantee it!"

"Scrape 'em off."

I could keep going...

Click this link to see the original poster artwork and how much they have tampered with it: http://www.impawards.com/1988/posters/scrooged.jpg

They really removed the spookiness of it...

Geofferson 08-13-06 09:33 AM

 must-buy for me.

Davy Mack 08-13-06 10:09 AM

I'm pretty sure that the new Ferris had a new slightly better transfer.

Davy Mack 08-13-06 10:10 AM

JUd, the link doesn't work, just gives an ad...

:(

Davy Mack 08-13-06 10:11 AM

oops, works if you cut and paste it into the browser.

Davy Mack 08-13-06 10:14 AM

I agree, new cover is WAY too festive looking. The film had some dark moments in it. Karen Allen was SO great looking in this flick.

Awesome, I've been holding off on buying this for years, so I'm glad I did so

Patrick Mirza 09-13-06 04:59 PM

Full disc details are now posted.

Fincher Fan 09-13-06 05:40 PM

Looks like a pretty decent release. Thanks, Patrick!

Why are people bagging on the "Yule love it!" tagline? It's from in the friggin' movie, fer Pete's sake!... the slogan of the network. It's not like some marketroid came up with the idea just for the DVD.

Talk about "not getting it." Sheesh.

OwlAtHome 09-14-06 12:12 PM

Anyone see this for preorder anywhere?

Muad'Dib 09-15-06 07:18 AM

I'll probably just chop the cover from my old release and use that. Other than that, I'm stoked for this!

joliom 09-15-06 05:34 PM

Christmas is going to be fun this year with all the great upgrades due out: Scrooged, How the Grinch Stole Christmas (animated), Holiday Inn, Home Alone, It's a Wonderful Life...I can't wait. I already sent my bare bones Scrooged off to my father's house in anticipation of this new version.

Cameron 09-15-06 09:01 PM

sheesh...a commentary...i'm in

Patrick Mirza 09-24-06 02:54 PM

Looks like Paramount may have already delayed SCROOGED from 10/31. I'll let you know more when I find some more news on it.

RobCA 09-24-06 03:05 PM

Glad I didn't sell my old one yet. Guess I'll keep it for now, in case it's delayed for a while.

Rob
