Why Isn't "ED" on DVD?

It was my favorite show while it was on and I can't understand why they haven't released it on DVD. Where is the love for "Ed"?

Yep, music rights have kept this great show from being released on DVD. I love that the reruns on TBS last year.

also Beckerman and Burnett's contract stipulated several years seperation from the show's end and the DVDs surfacing. plenty of information on this can be found at http://www.stuckeyville.com

sufficient time has passed.

this is the one tv show that i actually feel angry or upset over not having.

charge a little more for the sets and, if you have to, stagger the releases for a longer period if you think people need time before they'll pay again.

but just get season 1 out there and begin the process.

enough of the excuses. i've read the music rights AND the idea that the show is forgotten by a large group of people is part of why ally mcbeal hasn't been released.

well, if they keep waiting, ed will just be older and older and maybe people will have moved on and that will further cut into sales.

just please get this out. what do i have to do to get this show on dvd? i've spent a lot of money already, for example on frozen waffles, trying to recreate my favorite scenes. i wonder how much hall and oates would charge to appear on lane 4 of my local bowling alley.

A-freakin'-men! These are fans that took out an ad in Variety, for crissakes.

I have the entire four seasons saved as raw mpgs (because my DVD authoring skills are non-existant), but I need an official set.

Where in the site did you read that? The only thing I see is that music rights have kept Ed from being released on DVD:

" No current plans for Ed DVD release"

"Is Ed on DVD?"

"Yes sure it is. Man, that Matt LeBlanc guy is funny."

"No, not the monkey movie. Ed! You know, Ed."

"Oh, sure, right here."

"No, no, no. Ed the TV series."

"Oh, I'm sorry. Yes, Ed TV."

"AAAH!"

there's some TV Show-answer guy who has posted several times about the contract thing but this was several years ago... the article may not be up anymore?

I actually remember reading that too. Maybe he was wrong? If he wasn't, perhaps they thought ahead regarding the "music rights" too?

Wouldn't that make sense?

there are very few tv shows that i would buy. this is at the top of my list. if they don't get to these soon, i may have to start converting my vhs tapes to dvd. i would at least settle for reruns right now. it's bad enough that we can't get reruns but canada and the UK can.

I miss Shirley.

"Please let me know if you see it. It looks like a regular bean, but every so often it bounces in a rather disappointing way."

Mike: Ten bucks if you go over to that guy and ask him where the lettuce is... only, you don't say lettuce.
Ed: What do I say?
Mike: Letoos.

I grabbed a really great bootleg DVDR set off some shady internet site and was surprised at how great the quality was, but I will buy three copies of this set in an instant if it ever actually comes out.
