As much as i like stone , i do not know how he can improve this movie.
|
I guess the "Director's cut" wasn't really the director's cut.
It was a mediocre film at best. another 2 hours won't help it. |
I went in expecting to like this and it ended up being one of the worst films I've ever seen.
2 more hours won't help it. It didn't suck because it left out details. It sucked because the acting, dialogue etc. were terrible throughout. No way I'd even attempt to sit through a 4 hour version of this movie. |
Alexander: The Lunestra Director's Cut
I hope it comes in a tin shaped like a Lunestra box. |
Stone is just wasting his time re-cutting the movie. I don't think Warner wants to waste there time re-packing this crap movie for a 3rd time. Who the heck is going to buy it?
|
More naked Rosario Dawson?
|
Great film. Bring it on!
|
He just can't admit that it sucks. I think it was one of his biggest critical flops, so maybe he thinks he can just keep revisiting it until everyone likes it.
|
I liked the movie. Wasn't crazy about the gay scenes but that is just my take on it. I wouldn't mind a longer version if it didn't include more gay scenes.
|
I liked the theatrical cut much better than the director's cut, but I would be interested in seeing this extended cut too.
|
Very interested in seeing it, would buy it on HD if/when it comes out. One of the few who enjoyed the film.

He could cut the Angelina Jolie parts and the movie would be a bit better. I like her, but I don't know what drugs she was on to make her think a Natasha russian accent would be a good idea for her character.
I enjoyed bits of the movie, but it did drag. By hour 13 I was wishing for an early death. |

I guess he's gonna keep trying to shove this one down consumer's throats.
His "director's cut" was so popular that there's a stack of 'em at my local Blockbuster tagged at $4.99. |
I don't know, I heard that extra footage helped Kingdom Of Heaven but I really don't see myself even buying this as a first purchase. Even with the additional content. If the movie doesn't work for me at all in a theatrical form, I don't care, I don't want to see the rest. I tried watching Alexander on HBO-HD and I couldn't. It was just too dull. Don't need an extra hour and a half or so in order to make a movie better. If the movie was good in the first place, alright. Look at all the LOTR movies, fine. But if the movie really needs the additional content to be worthwhile, forget it.
I'm also pretty set against the movies that are released and have the feel like 'this was really the version you should have seen in theaters'. I know this one isn't the directors cut, but it's pretty lame none the less. |
Neither liked the movie or hated it. It was sort of just there on the screen and when it was over I had no lasting opinion of it. I can't see though how an even LONGER cut could make it outstanding in any way.

'Alexander' was a fantastic, huge, bold, bombastic epic! I loved every second of it, and
will count the days until I can see this new, longer version. Oliver Stone put the best battle scenes ever filmed into this piece along with the best sets in any film released this decade. All the performances were over-the-top in a good way and captured just how HUGE these character were in history. This new cut will place the film up near the top of all epics made in cinema history. I hope they can get this out sometime in the first quarter of 2007. |
I saw Alexander in theaters and thought it was a well made movie. People are too harsh on this film.

I was one of the few who enjoyed the theatrical cut. I never saw the director's cut (heard it was worse than the theatrical and like eight minutes shorter), but this version does intrigue me. I'm sure I'll at least rent it.
|
Trailers are supposed to be designed to make you want to see a movie. Even the trailer for this flick made me :yack:
Does Angelina really call that acting? |
Still haven't seen it.
|
No thanks. I saw it once. Once was definitely enough.
|
I haven't seen it, and that was enough for me too. :)
|
Now that we've gotten all of the "This movie sux dood!!!!!" threadcrapping out of the way, can we try to focus on the details of the DVD itself? That would be nice.
|
Well, I've seen it fifteen times and certain scenes up to thirty times! It looks
like this forum is full of less than steller film fans. Oh, well! I greatly enjoyed the 'gay' remark above. That was sure intelligent. I can't imagine what sort of films you guys like. Although, I'd bet the horrid 'Million $ Baby' and the awful 'Mystic River' would be up there. How typical! Stone has been quoted as saying they'll be an intermission apart of the new cut, and it'll be 3 hrs. and 40-45 mins. Other than that, nothing much else has been said thus far. Stone won't finish the new cut for another two months. So, I doubt we'll hear anything until that has been completed. |
I hope there is a longer scene time where Rosario Dawson took off her clothes

If Stone does, in fact, re-do Alexander on DVD, one thing: DON'T BE COY AND DICK AROUND ABOUT HIS SEXUALITY.
I have a friend who loves Colin Farrell and wanted to love Alexander, but she walked out of a free screening two hours in because the movie was pissing her off. The first thing she said about it, "If you're going to do a movie about Alexander the Great and cover his bisexuality, don't be coy. Just come out and show it." |

The first thing she said about it, "If you're going to do a movie about Alexander the Great and cover his bisexuality, don't be coy. The money people made it very clear what they'd accept and what they wouldn't. Unlike some people around the net, I don't think you need sex scenes to prove a bond between two men. This new cut might have a little more between Alexander and the eunuch, but that's it in terms of sexual content. |

I have yet to see it as well, so will probably hold off until this eventually comes out.

on why you disliked it. I don't agree with some of the reasons people have written this film off, and I won't think much of you if your reasons fall into any of those areas. |
