Still haven't seen it.

Corvin 08-07-06 03:23 PM

No thanks. I saw it once. Once was definitely enough.

canaryfarmer 08-07-06 03:56 PM

I haven't seen it, and that was enough for me too. :)

Josh Z 08-07-06 04:10 PM

Now that we've gotten all of the "This movie sux dood!!!!!" threadcrapping out of the way, can we try to focus on the details of the DVD itself? That would be nice.

GLENDALEFALCON 08-07-06 05:04 PM

Well, I've seen it fifteen times and certain scenes up to thirty times! It looks
like this forum is full of less than steller film fans. Oh, well! I greatly enjoyed
the 'gay' remark above. That was sure intelligent. I can't imagine what sort
of films you guys like. Although, I'd bet the horrid 'Million $ Baby' and the
awful 'Mystic River' would be up there. How typical!

Stone has been quoted as saying they'll be an intermission apart of the new
cut, and it'll be 3 hrs. and 40-45 mins. Other than that, nothing much else
has been said thus far. Stone won't finish the new cut for another two
months. So, I doubt we'll hear anything until that has been completed.

jake_spade 08-07-06 05:21 PM

I hope there is a longer scene time where Rosario Dawson took off her clothes

Ladies and gentleman, we've graduated from threadcrap to boardcrap.

More power to you, but I'll be looking for more of Mr. Farrell with his clothes
off.

ReduxGuy 08-07-06 10:27 PM

If Stone does, in fact, re-do Alexander on DVD, one thing: DON'T BE COY AND DICK AROUND ABOUT HIS SEXUALITY.

I have a friend who loves Colin Farrell and wanted to love Alexander, but she walked out of a free screening two hours in because the movie was pissing her off. The first thing she said about it, "If you're going to do a movie about Alexander the Great and cover his bisexuality, don't be coy. Just come out and show it."

First of all, Stone wasn't "coy" in either of the first versions. Secondly, don't
look for anything more than what can be found in the first two cuts, because
nothing else was filmed for the most part. The money people made it very
clear what they'd accept and what they wouldn't. Unlike some people around
the net, I don't think you need sex scenes to prove a bond between two
men. This new cut might have a little more between Alexander and the
eunuch, but that's it in terms of sexual content.

I'm sure Colin Farrell also made it clear how much male-on-male hugging and kissing he'd actually perform. I have a feeling he kept a cadre of hookers standing by at his disposal so that he could re-assert his heterosexuality between scenes.

Geofferson 08-08-06 11:09 AM

I have yet to see it as well, so will probably hold off until this eventually comes out.

I'm a less than "steller" (or is that supposed to be "stellar"?) film fan because I disliked a film you happen to enjoy?

Oh, sorry! StellAR!! Anyway, the answer to your question is no, but it depends
on why you disliked it. I don't agree with some of the reasons people have
written this film off, and I won't think much of you if your reasons fall into
any of those areas.

this decade. All the performances were over-the-top in a good way and captured just

first quarter of 2007.

This was sarcasm....right? Otherwise my internet meter must be busted.

gryffinmaster 08-10-06 01:56 AM

I've always been curious about this flick, but 4 hours is a lot of Alexander.

I guess you missed the pictures of him making out with some designer...

I enjoyed bits of the movie, but it did drag. By hour 13 I was wishing for an early death.

This made me laugh. So true.

Nope! 'Alexander' was my Best Picture of 2004, and Stone's third best film
overall.

Really? If you added up all the scenes that were included in both releases, it doesn't seem to add up to the extended running length that people have been talking about here.

Nobody knows what will be contained in the extra 30-35 min. of footage, but
I doubt it'll be more 'gay' themed scenes.

Dude, 3 hours ago you were spouting off about how nothing else was filmed so no new stuff will be include. Now you're all 'nobody knows'. Why don't you pipe down until you get some real info.

I was CLEARLY talking about any more 'gay' themed (although that word didn't
exist then) scenes. All the new material will be stuff cut out of the first four
hour version shown to Warner Bros. in August of 2004.

canaryfarmer 08-11-06 01:08 PM

My question would be how good can this footage be if it's wasn't good enough for both the theatrical and Director's Cut versions? Maybe third time's a charm, but he's passed on using this material twice already now.

(I'm not saying this to rag on Alexander, I think this would apply for most movies.)

Anubis2005X 08-11-06 01:14 PM

Seems like the only person here who can stand Alexander is GlendaleFalcon. They're making it just for you dude, hope you feel special...
