Apocalypse Now Redux

So is Redux out of print or what? Seems I can only find it online only.

It's a decent disc. I'm currently borrowing it from a friend, as I hadn't seen the movie. I just recently watched it, and I loved it. The transfer is good, and the movie is only on one disc (unlike the new Dossier version.) I've actually been considering buying this instead of the Dossier.

Wick, since you haven't seen the movie before... the original cut is a million times better. If you're stuck with "Redux" only, you're stick with the inferior version.

Do you think it would be better to get the original over the new Dossier one coming out in a couple of weeks as well? This is a title i've been waiting for, but if the census thinks the original is better then Redux, as well as the new Dossier, then i'll just pick up the original one.

The Dossier set contains both the original cut and Redux, but both have the movie split to 2 discs for no apparent reason other than to piss off viewers.

The Dossier will include both cuts. Some are unhappy that each is split over two discs, but that's not a big deal to me (tho' a peculiar decision). I think - not sure - that the "deleted scene" (or just extra footage) showing the destruction of the Kurtz compound may not be included in "the complete dossier". If this is so, it's likely the only reason why you'd want to hunt down the original cut DVD.

I'd recommend you wait for the new release, and maybe a few reviews to ensure the transfer hasn't been screwed up.

Yes, you definitely want the theatrical cut. I'm not sure if the transfer is any better or not on the new set though. All I've read is that supposedly the compression rate is better since it is on 2 discs.

I would recommend waithing for the new release if you don't mind switching discs half way through the movie too much.

I believe that this is one of the extras on the Circuit City bonus disc.

The trailers formerly found on the single disc releases for both cuts, as well as even more deleted scenes.

Wow, I guess I'll be skipping Best Buy that week.

Is there any confirmation or pics of it?

So the complete dossier isn't even offering all the available deleted scenes unless you buy it at Circuit City? Wow.

Yeah, with the "Complete Dossier", the emphasis is squarely on "Dossier".

Right. And you speak for everybody, of course. Because everybody thinks that the theatricul cut is better.

I think most people are smart enough to know when they're reading an opinion, don't you?

Are we going to see the 2.35:1 aspect ratio in this Dossier set? I know it is highly unlikely, but I'd like to see that someday.

No, it's already been confirmed in the other thread that the AR is 2:1.
