The latter.

It was released in theaters for a few weeks, but the WB didn't promote it and it came out the day after a little film known as Revenge of the Sith was released.

I took a look at this set today, as my local Blockbuster had it out on display. A friend who works there allowed me to look at it, and it seems like it's a well-packaged set. It's really sturdy, it looks great, and it's quite heavy. They want $49.99 Canadian for it, so I assume it can be found for $45 Canadian somewhere else.

Ani, it does. It includes the Exorcist Special Edition with all the extras and the TVYNSB. The first 1,000 units sold also come with a real snazzy Exorcist Beer Coaster that has "Exorcist II: The Heretic" printed on the label.

I really only like Legion (Pt. III)... I've heard that a special edition of that is in the works. So I'll def. be holding out on this one.

How are the discs packaged? Individual keep cases? Slim cases? Or is it going to be a digipack with a slipcover?

I was able to get this set for 14.44 at wal-mart. How? The stock people put a bunch of these in the slot where the old single disc "version you've never seen" should've been. I didnt even have to ask the the very polite sales guy to override the 29.99 price.

Possibly... Maybe... Dunno...

The "SE" that was definitely rumored to be in the works was a new director's cut with missing footage spliced back in... But, unfortunately, the missing footage is now missing and this has been scrubbed.

number 3 still scares the crap outta me. just a few shots. like the shot of the jesus statue that looks like it's eyes open. and when the nurse gets it. really has its moments. i'm a fan of brad dourif but i think his scenes dont really help the film. it all gets a bit silly.

is there no word on whether the fear of god doc will ever be released uncut? i saw it on bbc2 when exorcist was getting rereleased in 98 and it definitely had interviews with mercedez mcambridge and some footage of the neck pulsing effect.

Nice little set, takes up alot less room than the 5 movies seperate! Can't wait for the Omen set next week, all 4 Omen movies plus the new one, what more can we ask for!
The only thing with this Exorcist set all the dvd's are the exact same ones they previously released with no new graphics on the disk...That's cheapass WB for you...

I have the 25th AE and TVYNS, but was considering grabbing this for III and to get another copy of the 25th AE for my Dad. However, I can't help thinking that it's only a matter of time before we get a 2 or 3-Disc Special Edition of the original. It's one of Warner's premiere titles and a big seller, so I doubt this is the best it's gonna get. And then there's the Director's Cut of III to consider. They'll probably get that straightened out eventually too.
