X-Men: The Last Stand --> Oct. 3rd!
As revealed back on June 2nd in this thread, and officially announced today:
The year's second-biggest movie is going to kickoff the fourth-quarter DVD-selling season.
"X-Men: The Last Stand" will arrive on DVD on Oct. 3 in two extras-laden special editions.
The highlight of the third "X-Men" movie's DVD debut: three alternative endings, each with optional commentary by director Brett Ratner. The single-disc DVD release also includes 10 deleted scenes; audio commentaries from Ratner, the writers and the producers; a preview of the upcoming Ben Stiller movie "A Night at the Museum;" and two hidden "Easter eggs," one of the Beast reciting Shakespeare and the other of the X-Jet landing in Washington.
Fox also is preparing a collector's edition that includes an exclusive 100-page commemorative book with an all-new story penned by Marvel Comics master Stan Lee. It is his first original Marvel Comics book in five years.
In addition, Fox is packaging all three "X-Men" movies into a trilogy pack.

I'm excited about the alternate endings. I really didn't think the ending fit at all so I'll certainly give it a netflix to see what their options were. 3 alternate endings sounds high, I'm really curious to see if they're dramatic changes or just slight alterations.

Ratner said during press coverage of the film that he was planning to put a feature-length documentary about the making of the film on the disc. Since it looks like we're only getting a one-disc edition, it'll probably be on the eventual double-dip of the film.

I never double dip, if the single disk comes out 1st, that will be the one I pick up.
Never give the studios more money than you have to.

So will the collector's edition be a two-disc set or no?
If it is, I'll pick it up.
If not, I'll wait for the eventual double-dip or HD.
And the single-disc cover art SUCKS.

I don't have any interest in the comic book... I may just hold out for the double-dip actually. Or for when Fox finally starts supporting HD-DVD.

The single disc edition is too... colorful? I like the look of the collector's edition, but i'll wait and see how the pricing works out on this before I decide.

With commentary, deleted scenes and alternate endings this should be enough for me. I've seen so many documentaries now that they are almost predictable. I shut off Peter Jackson's King Kong post-production diaries because there wasn't a single thing said that I wasn't expecting. I'll probably get the collectors edition for this despite having the same features on the disc.

I'll probably pick up this release, or the CE depending on the price difference, since I'm impatient.
