X-Men: The Last Stand --> Oct. 3rd!

As revealed back on June 2nd in this thread, and officially announced today:

The year's second-biggest movie is going to kickoff the fourth-quarter DVD-selling season.

"X-Men: The Last Stand" will arrive on DVD on Oct. 3 in two extras-laden special editions.

The highlight of the third "X-Men" movie's DVD debut: three alternative endings, each with optional commentary by director Brett Ratner. The single-disc DVD release also includes 10 deleted scenes; audio commentaries from Ratner, the writers and the producers; a preview of the upcoming Ben Stiller movie "A Night at the Museum;" and two hidden "Easter eggs," one of the Beast reciting Shakespeare and the other of the X-Jet landing in Washington.

Fox also is preparing a collector's edition that includes an exclusive 100-page commemorative book with an all-new story penned by Marvel Comics master Stan Lee. It is his first original Marvel Comics book in five years.

In addition, Fox is packaging all three "X-Men" movies into a trilogy pack.

I'm excited about the alternate endings. I really didn't think the ending fit at all so I'll certainly give it a netflix to see what their options were. 3 alternate endings sounds high, I'm really curious to see if they're dramatic changes or just slight alterations.

I'd be curious about the configuration of the 3-pack. Does it include everything in X3 and this DVD set:

all in one package? If so, it's mine.

No two disc edition, or will the collector's edition be two discs?

Already have the X-Men/X2 pack, so I'll just pick up X3 solo.

I'm sure the Collector's Edition will be a 2-disc set and will probably have a numbered spine.

Wow. A single disc?

Color me surprised.

Is there any word on a DTS track?

I'm guessing the single disc is to justify one of two things: eventual double dip and/or HD version with more extras.

Count me in. While it wasn't the best it was still good.

Ratner said during press coverage of the film that he was planning to put a feature-length documentary about the making of the film on the disc. Since it looks like we're only getting a one-disc edition, it'll probably be on the eventual double-dip of the film.

Give me the 2 disk version, as long as they come out at the same time.

I never double dip, if the single disk comes out 1st, that will be the one I pick up.

Never give the studios more money than you have to.

Hmmm.... I guess I'll spring for the collector's edition.

This way, when the double-dip comes out, at least I'll have that exclusive book.

No, the X-Men Trilogy Pack is a 3-disc set, so it's single-disc editions of each film.

Ah, well... then it looks like I'll just be getting the single-disc edition of the new flick to sit outside my current set, looking sad.

So will the collector's edition be a two-disc set or no?

If it is, I'll pick it up.
If not, I'll wait for the eventual double-dip or HD.

And the single-disc cover art SUCKS.

The Collector's Edition is the single-disc DVD with a 100-page comic book. The two-disc DVD is likely coming later.

Uh, yeah it does. A lot.

I don't have any interest in the comic book... I may just hold out for the double-dip actually. Or for when Fox finally starts supporting HD-DVD.

The single disc edition is too... colorful? I like the look of the collector's edition, but i'll wait and see how the pricing works out on this before I decide.

I like the cover art for the Collector's Edition ... but the only difference is a comic book?

I think I'll wait for X3.5, although the cover art for the CE is nice.

Wow, a comic book. This movie is not worth double dipping on. If this is the crap they're going to pull, count me out completely

With commentary, deleted scenes and alternate endings this should be enough for me. I've seen so many documentaries now that they are almost predictable. I shut off Peter Jackson's King Kong post-production diaries because there wasn't a single thing said that I wasn't expecting. I'll probably get the collectors edition for this despite having the same features on the disc.

So the transfer of the movie won't be too good, more than likely.

I'll probably pick up this release, or the CE depending on the price difference, since I'm impatient.
