DVD-R Life

Does anyone know that actual life expectancy of a burned dvd-r movie? I have some home movies as well as back ups of some of my studio dvds and I was wondering if I would have to replace them in a few years?

It depends on the disc. I've heard good things about the quality of verbatim and have been using them for any DVD-R use for years.
