Great news! My collection will be complete!

Until Burton gives us a sequel of course.

You didn't get the Ape Head? They were practically giving them away at DDD.

No, I prefer sleeping indoors. Seems the wife wasn't too keen on the ape head staring at her all the time.

The Forbidden Planet set will be mine though. Robots don't bug her as much

That's really funny.

The ape head really is disturbing. I have mine partially obscured by other titles to avoid frightening guests.

I have mine up on top of the bookcase that serves as my DVD rack...

I always notice that if I've been away for a few days, and my roommates have been using the TV or computer, that the head has been turned away sideways...

What kind of horrific marriages are all you "my wife won't let me have the Ape head" guys in where your wife won't let you have a room or shelf somewhere for cool stuff like that? I mean, you honestly aren't allowed a cubic foot of Ape head on some shelf somewhere in your house?

I personally passed on the Ape head because I own 8 of the 14 discs and figured I'd eventually get the 6 that I don't have seperately. I was tempted to buy it with DDD only charging less than $90 for it but now that the animated series has been officially announced I'll just get the re-releases of the 4 sequels and the animated series and call it good.

Still, if I really wanted it I'd get it.

With getting this and Star Trek TAS I'm gonna have to lay in a supply of Trix and Super Sugar Crisp so I have something to eat while watching. Now if we could only get the Fantastic Voyage cartoon.

Oh there's plenty of goodies, that's just where she drew the line. I mean we have anime figurines, the Invader Zim house-boxset, a couple of Paul Champagne boxsets (that she's given me as gifts). There's plenty of give on her part in that regard, this one just wasn't one of them. I did note above that I'll be displaying the Robbie the Robot figure. (as an aside, I also have a 2 foot tall Robot from Lost in Space that used to stand beside our fireplace, and currently is the first thing you see in our basement/family room. )

And she did say I could keep it in the garage, but it's detached and not climate controlled, so I figured it wouldn't survive.

I put mine on the dining room table for that exact reason.

I think the issue, for most, is that they already have taken over many, many other cubic feet with many, many other toys and crap. A huge scary ape head just puts it over the edge.

I got the set but I really don't think the ape head looks good displayed in my home theater. He's sitting in a box in the closet until I can figure out what to do w/him.

The great news is that the discs themselves are in a really great, compact package in the back of his neck. Takes up barely any space.

Cool. I really didn't like the ape head much and already had all the ape movies (other than the remake which I hated) and tv series so even at $80 didn't jump (I did try for 1.32, but it didn't happen). Great I'll be able to get this.

I hadn't heard of a forbidden planet set in a robot though, going to have to check that out.
