MST3K's Mike Nelson selling DVD Commentaries

Re: MST3K's Mike Nelson selling DVD Commentaries
I understand the mindset of doing tracks for popular movies that people will actually own (and therefore be more inclined to buy the Rifftrax), but I really wish they could stick to the trio of Mike, Kevin and Bill doing crap films. I listened to the tracks for Empire Strikes Back and Jurassic Park last night and hardly cracked a smile. Star Wars Holiday Special on the other hand? Laughed my ass off.
I guess I need to give Twilight a try...

Deepdiscount is selling the 10 pack of new Rifftrax DVDs for $50. A no-brainer purchase!

aside from the review for 'Night of the Living Dead' - anyone else watch it, opinions? I must admit I wasn't all that impressed with the solo 'riff' of the film from Mike on the Fox Home Video DVD.

The question to ask yourself is, would the solo one be improved by having more than one person saying the jokes?

But the delivery is also pretty different. Those solo releases felt kind of like a regular audio commentary that was funny. The Redotrax are much closer to to MST3K style.
Speaking of which, just got Vol. XV this very moment. Awwww, yeah!

From Mike's Twitter feed:
"michaeljnelson: Big things brewing at RiffTrax. Things so big that the mere mention of them blinded half our staff with their radiance. And they loved it."

Twilight was also ridiculously funny. My wife has requested to watch the Twilight one about 3 times now - she loves it.
We started Eragon tonight but i am just not feeling it. The movie is kind of dull and the rifftrack is funny - but not roll on the floor funny like some of the others.

I really enjoyed the trax, but the movie made me feel dirty by the end of it. A love triangle between a Spencer from the Hills knockoff, a piece of Eurotrash and a fuggly chubster was one of the most bizarre things I have ever seen.

I listened to the Night of the Living Dead Rifftrax commentary Monday night. I thought it was okay for the most part. Mike, Kevin and, Bill all had funny lines, but it was just a little on the boring side. That's my only complaint.
Hopefully Plan 9 From Outer Space and/or both the Shorts DVDs (Which I ordered) will be a little funnier.

Now, if The Room were showing I would be there in a heartbeat.

I just noticed the Rifftrax account at YouTube got suspended.
Did some studio get snitty about being riffed or having their footage posted online?

What a joke. Don't these companies realize that it is causing rifftrack fans to go rent or even buy their movies when they might not otherwise have picked them up? The Twilight rifftrack was funny enough that i bought the movie so i could have repeat viewings. I never would have bought the film without the rifftrack.

), but these guys were just posting clips. Too bad that doesn't fall under some kind of fair use guidelines, but I guess not. Warner Music is also pretty anal. They removed the sound from a couple of my clips because of the music in them. One was a clip from the 70's drive-in movie MALIBU BEACH (not a Warner title, but the clip might have driven some folks to seek it out), the other from a Taiwanese movie that blatantly used American rock songs on its soundtrack without paying fees, and which I posted largely as an example of the practise in that region. Of course, its much easier to make a few clicks at Youtube than it is to go after the Chinese film industries, which have been pilfering American and European music for decades without permission!
