From today's New York Times:
RESERVOIR DOGS An excellent new anamorphic transfer, packaged in an annoyingly overdesigned case, distinguishes this 15th-anniversary reissue of Quentin Tarantino’s anthropological study of boys being boys. Lionsgate, $19.98, R.

I only paid $4.99 for the last release, so a double-dip isn't completely out of the question, but I want to know for what.

Packaging is pretty cool. To open the tin, you pull the top off the gasoline can. Transfer seems less muddy than the old release, but I haven't done a side by side comparison or anything.

I bought this early in the morning at Miejer for $12.99. I sat down and watched some of it and the video transfer looks slightly better than the 10th AV edition, but not by all that much. Improvements have been made, like better blacks, colors and the print is sharper with better resolution that I noticed and this is a better video transfer than the previous release, but many fans and people may find the video transfer a little disappointing. Not me though, a worthy upgrade for the gas can packaging alone. However if your upgrade is for the video only, well, you may be let down a tad bit.

My review copy is en route and I'm currently revisiting the 10th anniversary edition to prepare — I should have an extensive compare/contrast review up by the weekend.

We another case of a no-show for me...went around to about 10 different places in two towns...they didn't even have it registered on the hmv computer and kept trying to tell me I was mistaken and that it was a video game coming out...douchebags...my wife's taking a trip across the border for me to hunt it out as there was a cd that didn't cross this week for me and I also want to pick up porky's which I couldn't find here...

Freshticles - I don't think it is seeing a release in Canada. I looked into ordering it when it was first announced. Futureshop, BestBuy, HMV, no one had it listed. So I assumed it wouldn't be available in Canada and took my business south of the border (CDuniverse.com). Should be here by Thursday.

Had a chance to get it for $7.99 at BB (12.99 pm w/ -$5 Rewards) so i purchased it. Looks good to me, the video is slightly better but not much like others said. I like the packaging, very cool indeed. BB must have had 50+ copies there. They had a cart w/ nothing but red cans on it. Shouldnt have too much trouble finding one there.

Back to my earlier post: Is the gas can packaging limited? I'm trying to decide if I should buy it this week while it's on sale or wait for a future keepcase version.

I would say the gas can packaging is limited. I got it today for 2.99. I price matched Circuit City's price at Best Buy and took off $10 in RZ certificates. I also picked up the Addam's Family Volume 1 and SNL Best of Cartoon Fun House.
