Does anybody know if the upcoming re-release of "Grumpy Old Men" will be in anamorphic Widescreen, or even widescreen at all?

According to the recent Warner Home Video chat at HTF, yes, GRUMPY OLD MEN and its sequel, GRUMPIER OLD MEN, will be in anamorphic widescreen.

when does it come out?

Not soon enough for me! I really want to pick this up and have the 1st film in Widescreen. :)

It's double-sided. Doesm't seem to be any sort of a SE.

Unless WB has changed their policy with these double feature discs, the odds are 70-30 that both are still full frame.

Good to know it's finally widescreen. Went ahead and preordered at DDD. Too bad it's double-sided though, but that'll have to do - these movies are just too damn fun.

Unless that cover is wrong, these are the same shitty 1.33:1 open-matte transfers from before. :grumble:

Glad I held onto my snappers, though I am not to surprised Warner messed this up. As for Warner, they missed the boat here by being cheap and taking the dvds from the snappers instead. Nobody will upgrade at all now! I still hope that may be an unrevised image, but I doubt it! :(

What the hell. I gave away my snapper versions thinking that they new versions would be widescreen.

they said they wanted to do it...they didn't say this would be it...i have a feeling it will be like the ace venturra release when it does happen...that type of banner and all

I'lll take this opportunity to remind everyone WB's site listed the re-release of American President as 16:9....that was hardly the case

And to think I almost gave away the nice box set that includes both dvds from the previous release. Even though they are foolscreen, my family watches these movies more than most in the entire dvd collection. What a shame WB! :thmbsdwn:

We have to wait a little longer for the anamophic versions, which I can handle. I would be pissed if I had this pre-ordered.

If you think about it this makes more sense than Warner giving us 2 16x9 transfers of 2 classic movies at such a low price, it seemed to perfect to be true which is why I was so excited about this release intially. However Warner deserves major heat for false marketing again on the peoples behalf, I can't believe they get away with this crap and now many people have to cancel any preorders or have given away their snappers of the 2 movies. Warner get it right the 1st time will you, this looks so unprofessional on Warners part it hurts.

Well as long as its coming out someday... saves me a few bucks until then. :(

Pretty sleazy of Warner to release this crap the same year they said they'd release widescreen versions of these. Lots of sites have this listed as widescreen also, so it looks like warner fooled everyone.

Mine too & with the free media mail shipping it means I've got to wait about 10 days for the fucking burro to deliver it & then refuse delivery so the burro can take it back to DDD. Should have the credit for it back on my chargecard by ThanksfuckingGiving.

Warner just stated that they still plan on doing an OAR set for the Grumpy Old Men movies in the same manner as the ace ventura set. with rare interviews with the cast

Will be glad to finally get OAR versions in my hands.

Still got my Laserdisc of these movies. Maybe, just maybe, I can retire them someday down the line.

Yay! the milking$ for the 4x3 transfers may finally come to an end soon!

I'm game if they ever release them...for the the copies I have on my DVR will have to do.

The back cover is posted. And it's not really a new DVD. It's just a new cover for the old double feature. I bet the UPCs are the same.
