Greatest American Hero Deluxe Collector's Tin: 10/03/06

Just got a promotional Sheet for a Greatest American Hero Deluxe Collector's Tin. Here's what it comes with:

All 3 seasons, 43 episodes on 13 discs.
A Full Size Cape with the logo.
An Iron-on Transfer of the Logo.
and a replica of the suit instruction manual with working lights.

all this comes in a pretty huge looking black tin with the logo on it.

And that's not all: 50 randomly distributed copies will be autographed by William Katt. This is a limited run of 20,000 copies.

The cost says $60. I tried to do a search to see if anyone has it up for preorder but came up with nothing. Anyways, this looks pretty badass for anyone interested.

I already bought the first two seasons, but damn is that tempting.

Any chance you can scan and post it? I really want to see this.

Wow, only $60 retail? I've got the first season, but I could always just give that to my mom...

I'm gonna guess so, since he said it was a 'Huge Black Tin w/ the Logo'.

Next they'll repackage the set with the actual Jammies, so we can have full costumes.

It doesn't look like a suitcase. It just looks like a very deep tin. If i had to guess i would say its the size of the LOTR EE Trilogy boxset thing. But that's my guess from the one picture it had. It's just plain black with logo. Sorry if my original description gave anyone false hopes

I'll take a shot at scanning it when i get home from work. Not sure how well it will work since it's glossy and i never scan things, but it's worth a shot.

Considering William Katt's resume over the past several years, for $60, he should deliver it to your house.

I was thinking the same. Surely the guy has enough time to sign more than 50 of these.

Interesting. I'd be curious to learn the dimensions of the tin... it looks much larger than I expected. I was hoping for something pretty compact, but it's hard to tell. The photo doesn't give any sense of scale. I could also live without that cape. Especially since it is just a promo piece and isn't accurate to the show.

Oh well, $60 retail seems like a pretty amazing price for this. I'll likely scoop it up. Nice to see that they put some thought into this and added some value for fans. I hope other companies follow suit with other shows when they put out "complete series" collections. I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot of these in the next few years and they try to squeeze every last revenue drop from the TV on DVD.

the dvds themselves look like the ones that are available now. 13 discs, does that match up with the three season sets? the thinpak cases look the same to me.

Yep:

Season 1: 3 discs
Season 2: 6 discs
Season 3: 4 discs

The discs themselves (judging from the photo) will be 100% identical. Only the outer packaging will change.

I really want this, but I don't think I could justify the double dip.

How much do you want to bet that more than 50 'autographed' copies will turn up on e-bay the week after this is released?

That's the kind of stuff that bothers me. This set looks pretty cool, why not put a cape that is the same as the show? Hello?

It's somewhat the same thing as the Office Space Best Buy Collection, why not make the mug an Initech (sp) mug? Why not go that extra step and make it accurate?

P.S. I'm still going to buy the set

Amazon.com has this listed for preorder but not for $60 as stated but for $76.99.

Hmmm... was $60 the MAP instead of MSRP?

Well, we'll have to wait and see what prices look like all around. Anchor Bay stuff tends to be fairly cheap at some retailers, including DDD. And if those 20,000 copies can hold out until the anticipated November 20% off sale...

I actually almost did put that at the beginning of the thread title, but thought it might be too long.

As for the price, the sheet that i got only says $60.00 COST. Don't know if that is the MSRP or just the manufacturer cost to make the thing.

good use of the word house. For william katt, its all about HOUSE!

actually, his credits are pretty long on imdb, even if they might be small rolls, he has kept busy for a long time.
