Busted Firefly Disc

A friend got me into Firefly last summer and I promptly bought the DVD set after seeing Serenity. I'd just seen the series when I bought it and didn't want to rewatch it yet, but I opened it immediately and watched the special features. Since then it's just been on my shelf. Today I was planning to start rewatching the series, and, lo and behold, the first disc is completely defective. It gets to the FBI warnings but then promptly shuts off before getting to the actual DVD menu. Trying to seek to specific tracks/chapters doesn't work either. It can't be played, and I've tried it in four different DVD players and a computer's DVD drive. The other discs work perfectly.

My question is: how do I go about getting this replaced? Will Fox replace it free if I mail them the defective disc? The receipt has long since been thrown away and I can't even recall exactly where I purchased the set. I've been looking for Fox Home Entertainment's contact number online, but the few I've found are either no longer working (310-363-3900), for press only (310-369-5369), or for specific recalls only (877-541-2229).

So, does anyone have Fox's contact number for things like this? Has anyone had a similar experience with Fox specifically?

Thanks for the help, guys.

They have a disk "trade-in" program. Look around on the Fox Home Entertainment website.

It says they charge $6.99, but my brother had a badly scratched Family Guy disk, he sent it in, they sent a replacement and never charged him.

Hmm, I'll look into that. I'd hate to have to pay if they do end up charging, though. It would kind of suck to pay an extra 20% of what I paid in the first place just to fix a problem that's no fault of my own (maybe my fault for being stupid and not checking the discs, but not due to any damage, I mean).

They told me with a missing disk in a mash set to go to the store I bought it from and have them take care of it. I emailed them at [email protected]
They were most unhelpful and put the responsibility at the store level
